DraftKings and FanDuel Spotlight Hitters, Thursday 4/12

The following Spotlight Hitters were selected by Awesemo.com’s Director of Content Josh Engleman. Please check back later for notes/additional picks from Awesemo himself.

Eddie Rosario
FD: $2500
DK: $2900

With options limited on this small slate, Eddie Rosario looks like an excellent value if you’re looking to save some money in the outfield. A LHH/RHP match-up vs. Lucas Giolito isn’t very scary. The Twins have an excellent implied run total, which is exactly what I’m looking for from a guy hitting cleanup.

Brian Goodwin
FD: $2600
DK: $3500

The Nationals’ implied run total is similar to the Twins, but they get to face-off against Chad Bettis, who doesn’t share the same pedigree as Giolito. Bettis struggles to miss bats, which means Goodwin should have plenty of opportunities to get himself on-base. While he’s not the biggest power threat, Goodwin is set-up to see some extra plate appearances if he maintains his lead-off spot.

Ian Kinsler
FD: $2900
DK: $3600

Goodwin is scratched, but never fear! The update is here! Today is Ian Kinsler first day back off of the DL, but that’s not deterring me from using him. The Angels implied total is 2nd on the slate and Kinsler is slotted into the lead-off spot. This isn’t simply a play based on implied total and lineup spot, though. The wind looks to be blowing out hard to left-center, which should help any pitches Kinsler pulls. This is a great scenario for Ian’s return.

Trea Turner
FD: $4200
DK: $4800

Brian Goodwin isn’t the only National to make my Spotlight Hitters list. I’m also taking a deeper look at the man projected to hit directly behind him. Turner is the most expensive shortstop on both sites, but I believe he’s well worth the price. Spoiler alert: a Nats stack looks really nice.

Awesemo’s Notes
Rosario, Kinsler, and Turner are all strong plays tonight in both cash and tournament formats. One additional play I like is Brandon Belt, who is available on the DK late slate and FD main slate. At only 2400 with a good matchup, he is ranking among my top position players tonight.
