MLB DFS Picks Wednesday 7/27: Spotlight Pitchers & Top Stacks Today

Wednesday, July 27, brings a variety of early slates with the league’s first midweek getaway day since the All-Star Break. The action all culminates with a five-game featured slate starting at 6:40 p.m. Let’s get into the top MLB DFS picks today for pitchers and stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy baseball lineups.

DraftKings & FanDuel MLB DFS Picks Today (7/27)

Featured Slate: Mets vs. RHP Domingo German — 4.2 implied runs

Domingo German had a rough debut last week, allowing five runs — including two round-trippers — while lasting only three innings against Houston. Fortunately, the Yankees have a commanding lead in the American League standings, so they can weather a slow acclimation process from German, who is working back from a shoulder impingement as he slots into the rotation for Luis Severino (lat strain). This season, the Mets have the fourth-best offense against right-handed pitching, with a 119 wRC+ while also striking out at the fourth-lowest rate in the league.

Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte are the core four to target. Keep in mind that the back half of the Mets lineup should be bolstered by the addition of Daniel Vogelbach, who, of course, will be swinging from his heels. The well-travelled slugger can also be paired with hot-hitting Eduardo Escobar for some discounted differentiation.

Best MLB DFS Pitchers

Featured Slate Target: RHP Kevin Gausman vs. Cardinals — 3.1 implied runs

  • DFS Salary: DraftKings $9,300 | FanDuel $10,400

This is a great time to face St. Louis, as they will be without Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt for a second straight game because they do not meet the health and safety requirements of Canada. Although Kevin Gausman has suffered three home runs in his last two starts, he still has allowed only five on the season. The ERA and WHIP are up slightly from his last two seasons in San Francisco, but so too are his strikeouts. On Tuesday, the Cardinals scored only three runs, and they are projected for a similar total today, with the likes of Corey Dickerson, Lars Nootbaar and aging Albert Pujols being tabbed to replace the bats of Arenado and Goldschmidt.

Wild Card Target: RHP Max Scherzer vs. Yankees — 3.3 implied runs

  • DFS Salary: DraftKings $10,600 | FanDuel $11,500

Max Scherzer is clearly not going to shy away from this matchup, and while Giancarlo Stanton was just placed on the injured list, this is still an incredibly strong offense. Sadly, we do not get bonus points for birthdays, but it should be noted that today Scherzer will be celebrating his 37th year on planet Earth. Though injuries cost him innings this season, if he had enough to qualify, his 2.28 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings would be among the league leaders. Even with Stanton sidelined, Matt Carpenter, Kyle Higashioka, Joey Gallo and Aaron Judge will still provide plenty of strikeout opportunities for Mad Max.

Final MLB DFS Thoughts & MLB Weather Notes

Keep an eye on the Midwest venues, as Cincinnati and Detroit do have an outside chance of storms impacting play. On the East Coast, we are looking at potential evening thunderstorms in Baltimore and New York, though the games should be safe based on current prognostications.
