NBA Fantasy: DraftKings + FanDuel Projections & High-Upside Plays 5/19

Today’s NBA DFS slate features the first day of the Western Conference play-in tournament. Hopefully these games will go a bit better than yesterday’s when the Pacers and Celtics both won one-sided games. At the very least, tonight’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors is going to come with a lot of hype. LeBron James and Anthony Davis taking on Stephen Curry is going to create some interesting lineup decisions on FanDuel and DraftKings. All three of these stars come out looking good in on Awesemo’s NBA fantasy projections, and I am breaking down the best picks from the Awesemo NBA DFS Boom vs. Bust Tool.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Jakob Poeltl vs. Grizzlies: $4,900 DraftKings/$6,300 FanDuel

43% DraftKings Boom/34% FanDuel Boom

Poeltl’s salary on DraftKings is confusing. He has the best boom rating on both sites, and his DraftKings salary is the lowest it has been since earlier in the season when he was coming off the bench behind LaMarcus Aldridge. Overall, Spurs players look underpriced. They rested players like Poeltl, Dejounte Murray and DeMar DeRozan down the stretch, and it seems this has caused some issues in the pricing algorithms. These players are all priced down to levels not seen during the regular season. The Spurs are going to need Poeltl’s size to match up against Jonas Valanciunas, and Poeltl averaged 28.66 DraftKings points per game as a starter in the regular season. With his 33.01 DraftKings points, Poeltl is the No. 1 overall value play on the slate, according to Awesemo NBA DFS projections.

Stephen Curry vs. Lakers: $10,100 DraftKings/$10,400 FanDuel

23.3% DraftKings Boom/23.1% FanDuel Boom

Of the stars available in tonight’s marquee matchup between the Lakers and Warriors, Curry is the best option. The reasoning is pretty simple: James and Davis have to share the basketball, while Curry gets all the Warriors’ usage to himself. As the Warriors pushed to make the playoffs, Curry’s numbers were out of this world due to the workload he took on. Over the last two weeks, Curry clinched the scoring title by scoring 37.2 points per game with a 41.3% usage rate. Those numbers can’t go up much, but they should hold during the postseason. Curry could also play close to 40 minutes tonight as long as this game stays competitive. He is currently at 38.8 minutes in the Awesemo NBA DFS projections.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Brandon Clarke vs. Spurs: $4,100 DraftKings/$5,100 FanDuel

80% DraftKings Bust/86.9% FanDuel Bust

Clarke had some good games down the stretch of the season for the Grizzlies, but he was lucky to do so. He played limited minutes in games where the Grizzlies were banged up and happened to walk into a bunch of counting stats. Now that Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jonas Valanciunas are healthy for the postseason, neither the minutes floor nor the ceiling is significant for Clarke. In a worst-case scenario, Clarke could find himself out of the rotation entirely. He only played a total of 14 minutes across the Grizzlies’ last two regular season games.
