MLB DFS Picks: Spotlight Pitchers
Overall, his velocity has been down a little compared to last year, though in his most recent start he averaged just over 94 mph.
Strikeouts are the southpaw’s specialty, and he had 20 in his last three starts, spanning 18.1 innings, including nine in seven frames against the Rockies in Colorado.
Chicago gets a boost with this game being in the Great American Ballpark, though only two hitters in the projected lineup have a .120 ISO or higher in righties Andrew Vaughn (.160, 194 plate appearances) and Lenyn Sosa (.134, 163 PAs).
The White Sox have just two hitters who strike out above league average against lefties in Luis Robert Jr. (29.5%, 146 PAs) and Michael A. Taylor (38.5%, 143 PAs), but Lodolo should be able to make his own magic.
The other fun thing when rostering Lodolo is his propensity to coax opposing batsmen into ground balls. Across his last 691 batters faced, he has a stellar 45.7% combined ground ball rate.
Overall this is another lost season for the Pale Hose, who are last in total bases and runs, with the third-fewest home runs. Unless there is a “baseball being baseball” moment, Lodolo should be in the mix for a quality start and half a dozen strikeouts with a little upside.
In his most recent start, the 26-year-old allowed two home runs in Arizona, though he has suffered only four on the year and those were his first in 32 innings. Last year he allowed only 0.91 per nine innings in his 90 frames, and he is at a similar rate this season. The former Orix Blue Wave ace has 10.53 strikeouts per nine innings for his MLB career, and surprise will be on his side, with only journeyman Gio Urshela having faced him in a game.
For those feeling frisky, LHP Patrick Corbin gets to face Colorado in Texas, and it is likely the roof will be closed. The Rangers are -220 moneyline favorites to garner the win, and this is a matchup in which the homer-happy Corbin should find success.
MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks
Main Slate Primary Target: San Diego Padres
Hendricks has been an innings eater for most of his career, and in his last four-plus seasons, he has survived with a 4.83 ERA, 4.68 FIP and 4.58 xFIP. This is mostly due an innate ability to get timely ground balls (43.2%), which allows his defense to bail him out. His once pristine walk rate has jumped to 3.1 per nine innings since the start of last year against a 2.0-per-nine rate for his first decade in the league. When he implodes, it is usually in a spectacular fashion with multiple home runs and a conga line of runners rounding the bases.
Now that the Padres are healthy with Jake Cronenworth, Jason Heyward and Jackson Merrill all available, this is a terrifyingly deep lineup. Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Merrill are the trio to target, though that still leaves three-time batting champion Luis Arraez, plus veterans Gavin Sheets and Xander Bogaerts, along with whoever is behind the plate. This is one of the most malleable teams to stack tonight, as there are excellent options at pretty much every position.
Main Slate Secondary Target: Atlanta Braves
Tonight the Braves are facing LHP Mitchell Parker, who was a pleasant surprise for Washington last season, able to make 29 starts as a rookie. Even though he was mostly mediocre, he easily outperformed his prospect profile. This season things have been rougher, particularly in his three most recent appearances. In games against St. Louis and the New York Mets, sandwiching a visit to Cincinnati, the 25-year-old allowed 16 runs in 13 innings, recording a whopping 11 walks and a scant six strikeouts. Though he has allowed only one home run this season, he has 22 walks and only 26 strikeouts in his 45.1 combined innings.
Alex Verdugo and shortstop Nick Allen are the two Atlanta batsmen that can be skipped for stacks. Verdugo does not do well against fellow lefties, and Allen is in the lineup for his glove. Literally everyone else has the greenest of green stats, with catcher Sean Murphy, Austin Riley and Matt Olson standing out the most. Ozzie Albies, Marcell Ozuna, Michael Harris II and Eli White all warrant consideration, and the Braves rival the Padres for stacking combinations.
Today’s Top Sports Betting Picks
If you’re serious about making sharp MLB DFS picks, you already know that long-term success starts with using the right tools. The same approach applies to sports betting — and that’s where Portfolio EV shines.
Take Pete Alonso over 1.5 total bases, for example. This is a +EV bet, meaning it has positive expected value based on the best odds available. But smart betting with Portfolio EV isn’t about chasing isolated plays; it’s about consistently firing off a high volume of +EV wagers. With the Mass Entry tool, you can scale your action and let the math compound your edge over time.
Just like one DFS lineup won’t guarantee a takedown, one bet won’t define your night — it’s the consistent process that leads to profit.
Portfolio EV is built for bettors who want to win over the long haul. By identifying market inefficiencies, the best available odds and stacking a portfolio of +EV bets, it sets you up for compounding returns over time. This isn’t about chasing hot streaks — it’s about trusting the numbers and executing a smart, consistent and scalable strategy to beat the books.
Alonso is facing LHP Bailey Falter, who gives up power to batters swinging the stick from both sides of the plate. The Mets masher does his best work against lefties, with a .214 ISO in his last 215 plate appearances against opposite-handed hurlers.
