It’s hard to believe, but we’re already past the halfway mark of the 2023 NFL season. We’re running out of chances to win big on DraftKings and FanDuel as we enter Week 9. Let’s dive into the wide receiver pool and try to single out the highest upside picks and fades for this Sunday’s main NFL DFS slate.
Top NFL DFS Wide Receiver & Fades for Week 9
NFL player projections for the Week 9 main slates on DraftKings and FanDuel have been updated on Stokastic. The Broncos, Lions, Jaguars and 49ers are on a bye, while the Dolphins, Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Chargers and Jets are playing in the island games.
As such, it’s not the prettiest of schedules with a lot of games having low over/unders. Let’s see how the wide receiver NFL DFS data is looking at this point in the week.
NFL DFS Picks | Week 9 DraftKings & FanDuel Wide Receivers
A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles
It’s pretty tough fading A.J. Brown at the moment. He’s been on a crazy good run since complaining about his usage and is now up to 60 receptions for 939 yards and five touchdowns on the year.
Ahead of what should be an entertaining game against the Cowboys this weekend, Brown’s boom probability is at 8.3% on DraftKings ($8,600 salary) and 9.2% on FanDuel ($9,000). For the time being, his ownership projections are right around 20% on both sites.
A.J. Brown’s odds, bets and player props page at OddsShopper for Week 9 has his receiving yards prop at 83.5 yards and his anytime touchdown prop at +110. Brown, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are implied for 25 points and are favored by three for this Sunday’s game against Dallas.
Demario Douglas, New England Patriots
Of all wide receivers in the Week 9 main slate pool, the Patriots’ Demario Douglas is tops in boom probability at only $4,000 on DraftKings (17.1%), though that number drops to 6.1% at his $5,400 price tag on FanDuel.
Douglas played 62% of the snaps in Week 7 and then was on the field 77% of the time last week after Kendrick Bourne suffered a serious injury. New England has one of the more favorable matchups the team will see all season against the Commanders, which further boosts Douglas’ appeal.
For Week 9 NFL DFS, the Liberty product is currently showing in 21.4% of DraftKings optimal lineups based on Stokastic’s NFL simulations, with projected ownership at 16.2%. It’s going to be very interesting to see how the field approaches Douglas in this spot.
Cooper Kupp looks quite an interesting DFS bounce-back candidate after a couple of down weeks in a row. We’ll be eager to track the status of teammate Puka Nacua, who is currently questionable for Week 9’s game against Green Bay.

NFL DFS Fades | Week 9 DraftKings & FanDuel Wide Receivers
Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders
Though Jahan Dotson is coming off his most productive game of the season, projections and NFL DFS boom and bust probabilities are not loving him for Week 9 against the Patriots. The second-year pro has one of the highest bust probabilities at the WR position for the DraftKings main slate at his $5,000 asking price.
The Commanders’ wide receiver has a 52.3% bust probability on DraftKings and a 47.9% mark at $5,900 on FanDuel. These metrics measure how likely players are to meet their respective ceilings (boom) and floors (bust) relative to their median projections.
Looking through Dotson’s odds, bets and player props page on OddsShopper, his receiving yards prop is currently at 44.5 yards and he has an anytime TD line of +270 for Week 9 versus New England.
