Week 2 Preseason Monday Night Football NFL DFS Picks

Jacksonville vs. New Orleans Showdown

New Orleans Defense — Defenses are the most consistent plays in preseason Showdown. Unlike normal skill players, they score points through an entire preseason contest, with much of that occurring against second- and third-string players. For this reason, they also have a ceiling and can be used in the Captain slot. New Orleans holds a slight edge over Jacksonville as a 4-point favorite. They also benefit from facing Trevor Lawrence, Gardner Minshew and C.J. Beathard.

Jacksonville Defense — Jacksonville enters this contest as a slight underdog. Buffalo will face slightly better quarterback play in Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill.

Aldrick Rosas — With Wil Lutz rehabbing an injury, the Saints added Rosas to handle the kicking duties throughout the rest of the preseason. With the higher implied team total, Rosas holds a slight edge among the kickers.

Josh Lambo — The only kicker on the Jacksonville roster, Lambo plays for the team with the slightly lower implied team total.

Tony Jones Jr. — New Orleans will play this game with four active running backs, compared to six on the Jacksonville side. Jones led the Saints in snaps with 23 and carried seven times for 82 yards and a touchdown. He also caught five passes for 38 yards. He is the top back on the slate. Jones is Awesemo’s highest projected player.

Devonta Freeman — Freeman played 19 snaps and carried six times for 6 yards while adding three catches for 4 yards on three targets. He is the second-best option among skill position players and viable in lineups also containing Jones.

Jameis Winston — New Orleans will play this game with three active quarterbacks, and Winston will start. Winston completed 7 of 12 passes for 96 yards, a touchdown and an interception in Week 1.

Taysom Hill — Hill will come off the bench immediately after Winston. Hill played 19 snaps in Week 1. He completed 8 of 12 passes for 81 yards and an interception. Hill has excellent dual-threat ability, but he did not rush single time in Week 1.

Lil’Jordan Humphrey — The Saints only have eight healthy receivers, giving them an edge in Showdown contests. Humphrey played 34 snaps in Week 1 and turned five targets into three catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. He should again benefit from a thin depth chart.

Collin Johnson — Johnson has ascended the Jaguars’ depth chart. The Jaguars will play with 12 healthy receivers, but Johnson received elevated playing time in Week 1, leading with 32 snaps. However, Johnson only caught one of his two targets for 0 yards. His opportunity still stands out here.

Juwan Johnson — While tight ends are generally volatile plays on preseason Showdown slates, Johnson has ascended the depth chart during training camp. Johnson played 35 snaps in the Saints’ opener and caught both of his targets for 71 yards.
