Quick NHL Best Bets: Oilers and Connor McDavid Picks for 10/19/21

Tuesday night in the NHL is packed with 11 games on the schedule and plenty of NHL betting predictions to get into. So far defense and goaltending have looked a bit optional, as it did last year, with teams putting up crooked numbers and over 200 goals in the first week. With this many games, there are a lot of NHL betting picks and player props to look at, so let’s find some winning bets for Tuesday, Oct. 19.

Best NHL Bets Today: Player Prop Odds & Betting Picks

Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks Over 5.5 (-118, SugarHouse)

The matchup in Edmonton is one of the few this year with a spread north of one goal, which speaks to the quality of play and output on each side. The Oilers run out the best player in the world in Connor McDavid, but they also have the league’s best power play from 2020. That does not bode well for any team, but especially a Ducks team that carries little to no defense and has allowed over 37 shots per game in their first few. Now, the Oilers will not be solely responsible for the over, as Edmonton is right on the Ducks heels in shots allowed, and the Ducks power play has at least looked improved to start the year, with conversion on 33% of opportunities.

Another factor in terms of NHL betting in this game would be the Ducks coming in on a back-to-back after playing an overtime game in Calgary Monday night. The Oilers’ skill level, fresh legs and ability to move the puck with their top six should draw plenty of opportunities for their all-world power play. And if Mike Smith is not standing on his head with 35-plus saves (95.3% is not sustainable), as he has had to the first two games, the Ducks should be able to score a couple with their improved young offensive team — 2.67 goals per game thus far.

Islanders vs. Blackhawks: Anders Lee to Score a Point (-122, SugarHouse)

The Blackhawks have been one of the softest defensive teams for years running, with an aging defensive core and young/small forward group. In the early going it looks to be no different, as they come in second worst (behind the Islanders) in goals allowed per 60 at five-on-five. This game looks to be an absolute shootout with the way both teams have started off the year defensively. With his big frame and net front presence, Anders Lee should see plenty of opportunities to set someone up or score a goal.

Minnesota Wild Moneyline (-152)

Panthers vs. Lightning Under 6.5 (-124)
