After the first couple games of the playoffs, we’re starting to get familiar with matchups and we have some data to determine which players are playing well and which players are not. Here are a few guys that we’re targeting today based on their talent and matchups. Awesemo will start with a quote, then I (Tommienation1) will follow up.
Alex Ovechkin ($7,800 DK/$8,600 FD)
“Ovechkin has one of the highest floors on the slate with a 3.1 implied total for the Capitals.”
We love the stack as a whole, but Ovechkin (“A” points grade) makes sense in all formats as a one-off, too. He’s the highest-v0lume shooter on the slate and will get to avoid the Blue Jackets’ top line today. Coming off a game in which he had 8 shot attempts, Ovechkin will be firing away at both even-strength and the power-play. He’s one of my favorite plays on the slate tonight.
Seth Jones ($5,500 DK/$5,800 FD)
“Jones (“A” points grade) plays huge minutes for the Blue Jackets, as he got 30 in Game-1, and is a huge part of their top power-play unit.”
He attempted 9 shots and had 3 scoring chances in Game-1, and we should expect similar results again tonight. Jones’ upside is as high as any defenseman tonight as he’ll likely see the most minutes on the slate of any skater, and we know he isn’t shy about shooting. This is another one of those plays that is going to be obvious (similar to Ovechkin) in tournaments but is also a pretty tough fade because of his talent.
Alex Tuch ($4,500 DK/$4,000 FD)
“The Golden Knights are expected to be in another tight game, but it’s hard to find a player at this price that gets top-6 run and top PP time.”
Tuch has looked fantastic in the first couple games of this series posting 4 High-Danger Chances, which is only behind James Neal in the playoffs for the Golden Knights. His line has been dominant at even-strength as well, outshooting their oppenents 42-26 and out-chancing them 22-6. Tuch will be on the top power-play, too, in case you need more reasons to play him.
Tyler Toffoli ($4,400 DK/$5,900 FD)
“Toffoli is underpriced on DraftKings and will be playing on a line with Jeff Carter, avoiding the top Vegas line.”
He’s been fairly quiet in DFS for the first couple games, but Toffoli (“B” DK value) has posted 12 shot attempts and 5 scoring chances with no points to show for it. With Tanner Pearson and Jeff Carter on his line, they’ve accumulated over 30 Scoring Chances For per 60 minutes and 11 High-Danger Chances For per 60 minutes. The talent is there for Toffoli to make a big splash in this series, and at home tonight where LA can dictate the matchups, he should be freed up offensively.
