Roses of The Day: My name is Chris Randone and If you ever watched The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, then you know getting a rose means everything. It symbolized the guy or girl giving them out has an interest in you. When you get a rose, it means you survive to keep fighting for love.
Well in daily fantasy sports it’s no different. We go through a list of players deciding who will survive and make the cut into our lineups. These players fight to help us win. A true definition of love. I’ve learned being on the show that you never give out roses just for fun, there has to be a meaning behind it. We’ll take that same approach here. Tonight’s rose ceremony I’ll give my Top Stack, Top Pitcher, Surprise Pitcher, & Surprise Stack of this main slate.

Top Stack and Surprise Stack
Minnesota Twins, will you accept this rose?
The Twins face Carlos Carrasco on the road tonight in Cleveland. Carrasco is a great pitcher who can rack up strikeouts but this year has been different for the Indians ace. Carlos has been getting worked from both sides of the plate as he’s posted a 4.98 ERA and given up 14 home runs. The Minnesota Twins crush right-handed pitching. Minnesota currently ranks as the number one hitting team against right-handed pitching in baseball. Below breaks down where the Twins rank in MLB against right-handed pitching:Â
.513 SLG (1st)
.248 ISO (1st)Â
268 wRC (1st)Â
.353 wOBA (1st)
120 wRC+(2nd)Â
90 HR (1st) Â
252 Runs (1st)
The Twins produce against righties. Minnesota’s projected ownership provides huge upside in tournament play. The Twins are fairly priced on FanDuel but a bit more expensive on DraftKings. Carlos Carrasco has given up 14 runs including six home runs in his last three starts. The Indians ace has five quality starts in 12 games this year and the Twins bring discipline to this matchup being the fourth best team in the league striking out only 19.9 percent of the time this year against right-handed pitching.
Top Pitcher
Charlie Morton, will you accept this rose?
Charlie Morton is one of the most expensive pitchers on tonight’s slate. Morton’s price tag will push away interest (5% projected ownership) on this 12 game slate but Morton’s matchup is exceptional. The Tampa Bay Rays ace will face a Tigers team that strikes out 26.3 percent of the time against right-handed pitching. Detroit owns the worst 75 wRC+ and .283 wOBA in the league. The Tigers will throw out a right-handed heavy lineup where Morton has dominated righties this season.
Morton has giving up no power to right-handers holding them to zero home runs, two runs batted in, and striking out 36 batters across 122 at-bats. Charlie has been great on the road this season posting a 1.88 ERA giving up an average of 1.14 runs a game. Last night Detroit’s bats overcame the reigning CY Young award winner Blake Snell which I believe will factor in the decision making of paying up for Morton.
Surprise Pitcher
Jason Vargas, will you accept this rose?
The New York Mets veteran is coming off an incredible start against the Dodgers where he went seven innings and struck out six while giving up only one run. The interesting take here is Vargas threw 98 pitches in this matchup which was his highest yet this season. Vargas draws a great matchup at home against the Giants. The Mets southpaw will face a San Francisco team that struggles against left-handed pitching. Currently, the Giants rank at the bottom with a 68 wRC+, .120 ISO, Â and a .273 wOBA. Vargas seems appealing as a second pitching option on draftkings and could be considered a value play on Fanduel where his price tag is low and ownership is projected in the single digit percentile.
