Wednesday, July 6, has split-slate action which culminates with an eight-game featured slate beginning at 7:05 p.m. ET. Let’s get into the top MLB DFS picks today for pitchers and stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy baseball lineups.
DraftKings & FanDuel MLB DFS Picks Today (7/6)
Main Slate: Baltimore Orioles vs. RHP Glenn Otto — 4.7 implied runs
Yes, the Yankees are in a phenomenal situation against Mitch Keller, however, they are budget busters on DraftKings. If you can make it work, definitely look their way, but keep an eye on where their popularity resides with the field as first pitch approaches.
Though the renovations to Camden Yards have turned it into a more pitching friendly venue, Glenn Otto is someone we can target tonight. Walks have been an issue for Otto who has issued 29 free passes in just 46.1 innings this season. Additionally, his flyball tendencies can get him into trouble and lead to big innings. Despite a 92.2% first strike rate, Otto pitches from behind in the count 54% of the time. That friends is hard to do.
Cedric Mullins, Anthony Santander, Adley Ruschman and Ryan Mountcastle are the core four Orioles at the top of the order. Austin Hays is dinged up, so if he is out, Rougned Odor may see a boost in the batting order. Trey Mancini is solid, but unless a southpaw is on the mound, we should select Mountcastle where we are forced to choose between the two first basemen.
Evening Slate: Houston Astros vs. RHP Brad Keller — 5.2 implied runs
Once again, the new Stokastic Top Batters Tool is flagging several Astros among the top of their respective position lists. Brad Keller used to have a reputation for limiting power, however, that is a thing of the past. His 5.93 strikeouts per nine innings is a career worst and down over 2.1 compared to last season, and his home run rate is nearly double compared to his first three seasons.
Houston has an embarrassingly deep lineup and with Yordan Alvarez homering in two straight, it looks like the after effects of his nasty collision are behind him. Kyle Tucker has hits in 22 of his last 28 games and yet he is still overlooked by the average DFS gamer. Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman and rookie Jeremy Pena are a force at the top of the lineup and we still have not mentioned the 2021 American League Batting Champion Yulieski Gurriel. Look to the bottom of the order on the evening slate for differentiation with Jake Meyers and Chas McCormick both acceptable discount dandies on DraftKings.

Late Slate: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. RHP Jose Urena — 6.3 implied runs
The Stokastic Top Stacks Tool has identified Los Angeles as the top stack on the main slate and, of course, for the late-night action. Jose Urena will be taking the mound tonight for the Rockies. Urena was released after 7.2 innings of mediocre performance for Milwaukee after he refused to accept a demotion to their minor league system. Colorado picked him up and after he appeared for Triple-A Albuquerque, where he was dreadful with a 7.29 ERA, they are “rewarding” him with a start against arguably the best offense in the league. There is a good chance this is the last hurrah for Urena, so be sure to get in on the fun. Any and all Dodgers who make the starting lineup are in play for our DFS rosters tonight.
Best MLB DFS Pitchers Today
Top Target: RHP Luis Severino at Pittsburgh Pirates — 3.5 implied runs
- DFS Salary: DraftKings $9,100 | FanDuel $9,500
Though Pittsburgh was able to get to Jameson Taillon yesterday, the path to success will be a lot tougher today against Luis Severino. After appearing in only seven games between 2019 and 2021, Severino has been back in rare form this season. In each of the first three months, he has had a 3.41 ERA or lower while compiling 91 strikeouts in his 78 innings. While the 11 home runs are a touch high, it is difficult to find fault with the rest of his results. Toss in a matchup against the anemic Pirates and we have our top pitcher of the day.

Secondary Target: RHP Aaron Nola vs. Washington Nationals — 3.3 implied runs
- DFS Salary: DraftKings $10,100 | FanDuel $10,500
Currently, Philadelphia is listed as 2.5 to 1 favorites against Washington and somehow that feels a little low. Aaron Nola has been back at the top of his game after suffering through a subpar 2021 season. The strikeouts are not quite at his usual level, but keep in mind with the various changes to the ball and to the MLB rules, he is still ranked eighth among starting pitchers with 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings. The Nationals have plated more than three runs only thrice in their last 15 games. Advantage Nola!
Wild Card Target: RHP Brayan Bello vs. Tampa Bay Rays — 4.6 implied runs
- DFS Salary: DraftKings $5,000 | FanDuel $6,000
Boston will be turning the ball over to its top pitching prospect Brayan Bello, as he makes his MLB debut in front of the Fenway faithful tonight. The 23-year-old has cruised through the competition with 12.6 strikeouts per nine innings in Triple-A Pawtucket this year, which was even better than his 11.2 rate during his six Double-A outings to start the season.
Other Pitching Options

Final MLB DFS Thoughts & MLB Weather Notes
Baltimore has evening storms that could impact play if they arrive earlier than the projected 10 p.m. ET window. Cincinnati and Pittsburgh have some afternoon rain potential, though both venues look to have clearing in time for the respective games.
