Top 5 FanDuel NBA DFS Picks Today

5. Bennedict Mathurin, Indiana Pacers

Mathurin is eligible as a shooting guard and small forward, priced at $5,200 and projected for 26 fantasy points, with a goal of just 30. Mathurin plays around 27 minutes a night and averages 0.95 fantasy points per minute. Although he has cooled off since the beginning of the season, he is still a key part of the Pacers team and is in a good matchup tonight, as the Pacers are 4.5-point favorites against the Spurs. It is a massive pace-up spot for Indiana, and both teams play incredibly quickly, gaining 2.5 possessions over their average. With positional eligibility at both shooting guard and small forward, Mathurin offers flexibility in roster construction. If he gets hot, he could easily exceed his projection against a struggling Spurs team.

4. Jalen Smith, Indiana Pacers

Smith is projected for 20 fantasy points with a goal of 23.5, and he’s in the optimal lineup 32% of the time. Despite being a risky pick, Smith is an interesting value option on a slate where value is hard to find, especially from backups. He has been the direct backup to Myles Turner in the past two games and three out of the last four, so his minutes are dependent on what Turner is doing. If Turner plays for 31 minutes, Smith is expected to play 17 minutes as a center. In this scenario, Smith averages 1.1 fantasy points per minute in a great matchup against the Spurs, making him a viable option to be in a winning lineup. At a salary of $3,900, he doesn’t need a lot of fantasy points to be worth the pick on a four-game slate.

3. Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana Pacers

Haliburton is eligible for both point guard and shooting guard positions, with a projection of 47 and a goal of 50, placing him in the optimal lineup 34% of the time. Although he is a bit pricey at $9,200, he plays an average of 34 minutes per game and delivers 1.38 fantasy points per minute. Haliburton is expected to carve up the Spurs defense. With 23 points on 25% usage, 10 assists, five boards and two stocks, he is likely to fill up the stat sheet. While his status for the game is still up in the air, assuming he plays, Haliburton is a top-5 player to roster on FanDuel.

2. Delon Wright, Washington Wizards

Wright is projected for 26 FanDuel points and has a salary of $5,000, making him a good value pick. He is a point guard and shooting guard and is expected to start due to Monte Morris being out. Wright is a versatile player and is expected to do a little bit of everything on the floor. He averages 0.9 fantasy points per minute and has a slight pace-down spot in his upcoming game against the Raptors. However, it is expected to be a competitive matchup. Revenge narrative alert for Wright against the Raptors, but he is not a player that will get there with scoring, particularly with Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma out there. Wright’s value comes from his ability to fill the stat sheet. He averages 8.5 points on 13% usage, 4.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals. With Wright’s minutes and starting role secure, his salary makes him a good pick for the upcoming slate.

1. Buddy Hield, Indiana Pacers

With a salary of only $5,900, Hield is projected for 31 points and is in the optimal lineup 39% of the time. He averages 31 minutes per game and a fantasy point per minute, making him an excellent choice for this game. The Pacers’ matchup against the Spurs is ideal, with a huge pace-up spot and 2.5 extra possessions over their average. Hield’s price is a thousand dollars cheaper than it was two weeks ago, making him easy to fit into any lineup. He averages 17 points on 21% usage, six boards, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 stocks and has the potential to look even better if Halliburton is out. Overall, Buddy Hield is a great option for a FanDuel NBA DFS pick.
