NBA DFS Building Blocks Today: Saturday, November 12

Core Play of the Day — Clint Capela: Atlanta Hawks-Philadelphia 76ers

  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 36.09 | FanDuel: 36.92
  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 21.6% | FanDuel: 20.9%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $6,000 | FanDuel: $6,100

Clint Capela has been ceding minutes to Onyeka Okongwu this season and the ninth-year veteran is on the court for only 26.7 per game which is his lowest average playing time since the 2016-17 season. Tonight, Okongqwu is away from the team attending to a personal matter, which should give a couple extra minutes to Capela.

We just saw this matchup on Thursday with the Hawks rolling the 76ers 104-95 and the hometown Atlanta squad leading the game by 20 points after a 12-0 run by the second unit in the early fourth quarter. In just 26 minutes Capela had 18 points and 20 rebounds, though that is far from a guarantee for his fantasy production tonight, the veteran does have a history of solid production against Joel Embiid. Keep an eye on the Points+Rebounds+Assists props for Capela and look to any that are in the 20.5 to 21.5 range if the “juice” is not too high.

Myles Turner: Indiana Pacers-Toronto Raptors

  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 36.17 | FanDuel: 37.89
  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 37.2% | FanDuel: 39.9%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $6,300 | FanDuel: $7,100

It is rare that this article will have two featured center options as this is typically the position that has the best point per dollar plays day in and day out. However, we are looking at two phenomenal situations with a pair of players who have significant access to fantasy upside while also providing a steady floor. Myles Turner is also eligible at power forward on FanDuel, which makes this duo easier to pair on the blue site and of course DraftKings does have the utility slot for extra flexablility.

Toronto is missing both Pascal Siakam and Precious Achiuwa which means Turner will be battling the likes of Chris Boucher, Christian Koloko and Thaddeus Young for rebounds. Over his last three games, Turner is averaging 22.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 3.3 combined blocks and steals. This includes one 40 fantasy point performance and one just over 60, plus he has another 55-fantasy point performance in his last five games. Do not miss the boat with Turner.

Luka Doncic: Dallas Mavericks-Portland Trail Blazers

  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 57.24 | FanDuel: 54.46
  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 5.3% | FanDuel: 8.9%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $12,600 | FanDuel: $12,200

Tonight, the Mavericks are hosting the Trail Blazers, who simply do not have anyone capable of impeding Luka Doncic. This looks to be the season where Doncic puts it all together and he is currently in the top three players with the best odds for the NBA MVP Award, along with Jayson Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Doncic is having by far the most statistically impressive season of his short career with personal bests of 36.8 minutes, 23.6 field goal attempts, 48.8% field goal conversion rate and 33.6 points, which also leads the league. The best value tonight is in the front court, so that makes Doncic the coveted building block for both his raw fantasy production as well as being point guard eligible.

Joe Harris is worth keeping tabs on with his 3.5 over/under rebound prop for his matchup against the Clippers. The Stokastic NBA player projections have him for 5.1 rebounds, which works out to a 74%-win rate. Harris has at least four rebounds in each of his last four appearances. Though he is not thought of much as a rebounder, the former Lake Chelan High School star has averaged 3.9 per game over his last 192 outings. Ben Simmons is coming off the bench and Yuta Watanabe and Kyrie Irving are both sidelined, which should create a path for Harris to see something approaching 30 minutes of action this afternoon.

Detroit Pistons Carousel

There are some moving parts for the Pistons tonight with Cade Cunningham (shin) questionable after missing last night and Marvin Bagley (knee) getting close to a return. Alec Burks makes his 2022 debut last night after missing the first few weeks of the season recovering from a foot fracture. Keep tabs on his availability on the back-to-back as both he and Cunningham being out would ensure a steady workload for rookie Jaden Ivey.

Veteran scorer Bojan Bogdanovic also would get a boost if that duo remains out, though he is still an appealing option if only one sits. It is hard to trust Cory Joseph even if he gets another start as we saw him on the court for only six minutes after picking up two fouls in his first minute of action and then two more before being anchored to the bench. Detroit has plenty of guard options, so let other gamers take on this risk, if it is even available. If everyone is in, then we can skip the Pistons and look to some of the options in the Houston-New Orleans matchup, where even with both teams relatively healthy, there is a 232.5 projected point total that could be a fantasy goldmine.
