Boom/Bust NBA Daily Fantasy Projections & Picks

Boom: Drew Eubanks: $3,300 DraftKings/$4,500 FanDuel

58.7% DraftKings Boom/35.2% FanDuel Boom

Drew Eubanks is a tough value to overlook tonight with both Jakob Poeltl and Jock Landale out due to concussions. In the seven contests these two players have missed this season, Eubanks has started at center and collected 24.6 DraftKings points per game. He is scoring one DraftKings point per minute this season and Awesemo is projecting Eubanks for 26 minutes tonight against the Heat.

While this is a difficult spot, with Miami ranking eighth in defensive efficiency, the center should effortlessly outproduce his low salaries. This is especially true on DraftKings, where Eubanks is priced only $300 off the minimum. For both DraftKings and FanDuel, he owns a slate-leading boom score and is rating as the No.1 value on the board in Awesemo’s projections.

Update: Thaddeus Young is expected to start at center instead of Eubanks, making the former the better punt. Young is scoring 1.14 DraftKings PPM this season and is priced at the minimum on both DraftKings and FanDuel. In Awesemo’s Boom Bust Tool, the veteran now owns the highest Boom score on the slate for both sites. Eubanks is still rating highly in Awesemo’s projections and is still a very viable play for this slate, especially with the center now expected to come with single-digit ownership on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Given how cheap Young and Eubanks are, utilizing both in the same lineup is a viable strategy, that surely won’t be a common move in large tournaments.

Boom: Gary Trent Jr.: $6,100 DraftKings/$7,100 FanDuel

17.8% DraftKings Boom/6.8% FanDuel Boom

It is hard to ignore how well Gary Trent Jr. has been playing. In his last five starts, the wing has generated 44.6 DraftKings points per game, while shooting 50% from the field and 51% from beyond the arc. Even with Fred VanVleet back and seeing his normal large workload, Trent has led the Raptors with a 25.6% usage rate and a whopping 40.4 regulation minutes per game across the last three contests. Given Toronto has won each of these past three, it is hard to imagine Trent does not maintain this immense role Thursday against the Bulls. Since the start of the new year, Chicago has struggled mightily on the defensive end, ranking fifth to last in defensive rating. In this juicy spot, the Raptors’ implied team total is the fifth-highest on the slate with 113 points.

Trent’s sixth consecutive effort of 40 fantasy points is absolutely possible tonight, and he is standing out as one of the best values on the board at only $6,100 on DraftKings. As for FanDuel, Trent costs $1,000 more, but the higher salary is expected to result in decently low ownership, according to Awesemo’s projections.

Boom: Anthony Davis: $9,800 DraftKings/$9,600 FanDuel

18.4% DraftKings Boom/23% FanDuel Boom

At sub $10,000 price tags on both DraftKings and FanDuel, Anthony Davis is the best stud to attack for this six-game slate. With LeBron James (knee) inactive last night, Davis exposed the Blazers for 57.8 DraftKings points in 36.4 minutes. James will remain sidelined tonight. If excluding November 6th, when Davis exited after only seven minutes due to an illness, the big man has contributed 51.6 DraftKings points per game in 14 contests he has suited up for without James this season. Overall, in the 622 minutes Davis has played with James off the court this season, he has scored 1.4 DraftKings points per minute behind a 30% usage rate, which is a 2.3 percentage point upgrade from his season average.

Tonight, Davis will be facing the inner city rivaled Clippers. While Los Angeles ranks seventh in defensive efficiency, they are extremely susceptible inside, allowing the fourth-most points in the paint and seventh-most rebounds per game. This Pacific division matchup presents the fourth-highest total on the slate with 220 points and Davis should have no issues topping 50 fantasy points this evening.

Bust: Bam Adebayo: $8,400 DraftKings/$8,200 FanDuel

56% DraftKings Bust/57% FanDuel Bust

Bam Adebayo is fresh off 55.25 DraftKings points showing against the Raptors on Tuesday, but we should not be chasing this performance tonight. Kyle Lowry (personal) will be returning from a nine-game absence and Jimmy Butler (toe) is likely to play after initially being listed as questionable. Adebayo has made 14 starts with both Lowry and Butler active this season and has been underwhelming on those occasions, averaging only 36.7 DraftKings points per game.

Adebayo’s fantasy production downgrades to 1.06 DraftKings points per minute when sharing the floor with both Lowry and Butler. While this is an appealing matchup against the Spurs, who rank sixth in pace, Adebayo’s ceiling takes a serious hit with the Heat’s starting lineup back to full strength. His inflated salaries on both DraftKings and FanDuel have the big man rating very poorly in Awesemo’s Boom Bust Tool.
