2023 Wyndham Championship PGA DFS Core Plays: Back to the Well With Sungjae Im and Aaron Rai

The final regular season event on tour is here. Many golfers in this week’s Wyndham Championship field are facing their last attempt to get into next week’s FedEx Cup Playoffs. They will try to make that happen when they tee off at the Sedgefield Country Club on Thursday morning. It is a par-70 course that measures 7,100 yards and emphasizes driving accuracy. The winning scores regularly eclipse 20 under par, so here we will target accurate drivers with high birdie-or-better percentages for core PGA DFS plays this week on DraftKings. Let’s get to the PGA DFS picks!

Sungjae Im, $10,800

Sungjae Im is in a great bounce-back spot after he missed the cut at last week’s 3M Open. The Wyndham Championship is a great opportunity for Im since the course rewards accuracy over distance. Im has had very nice success here, making the cut in all four career starts at this tournament. That run includes three top 10 finishes. He is hitting nearly 65% of his fairways on Tour in 2023 and ranks inside the top 5 in birdie or better percentage over the last 50 rounds. Fire up Im with confidence this week because he is the top PGA DFS core play on DraftKings.

Si Woo Kim, $9,000

Si Woo Kim has absolutely dominated this tournament throughout his career. He has four top-5 finishes, including a tournament win, in six career starts. One big reason for Kim’s success here is his accuracy off the tee. He is hitting 67% of fairways this season and ranks top 25 in strokes gained on approach and birdie-or-better percentage over the last 50 rounds. Stokastic’s early PGA DFS ownership projections indicate that Kim will be a popular play this week, but eating the chalk makes sense.

Aaron Rai, $8,600

Aaron Rai was featured in last week’s PGA DFS core plays article, and he works again here. Rai’s 20th-place finish at the 3M marks his fifth top-25 in his last seven starts. Sedgefield sets up perfectly for Rai, who ranks top 5 in both fairways gained and strokes gained on approach over the last 50 rounds. That combination of skills should keep Rai in contention throughout the weekend and gives him a great chance to pay off his mid-$8,000 price tag on DraftKings.

GPP Flier – Andrew Putnam, $7,200

As a shorter hitter, Andrew Putnam tends to struggle on the majority of courses that are played on the PGA Tour. That issue will be mitigated this week because of the setup of Sedgefield. Putnam makes for an interesting name to consider. He has made the cut in nine of his last 10 starts and ranks top 30 in both strokes gained on approach and fairways gained in this field. As one of the field’s best Bermuda putters, his skillset matches up well with the course this week. Putnam offers great value for PGA DFS at the bottom of the $7,000 price range.
