Today promises to be another thrilling day of baseball, featuring five games on the main slate starting at 6:40 p.m. ET. We will break down each game and identify the players that present the best value for your daily fantasy lineups. Let’s begin by exploring some promising MLB DFS value picks.
MLB DFS Value and Advice | April 13
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Cincinnati Reds
Red pitcher Nick Lodolo has the highest strikeout percentage on the slate and is projected to be a top-scoring pitcher. While Lodolo faces a mediocre matchup in hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark, he is expected to have high ownership. Both teams offer interesting stacks in tournaments. Bailey Falter is a weak pitcher, and the Reds offer cheap hitters like Jonathan India, Spencer Steer and Tyler Stephenson. The Phillies face a tough spot, but Trea Turner, Nick Castellanos, J.T. Realmuto and Alec Bohm are appealing options.
Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees
Joe Ryan has significant strikeout splits since last season, making him a strong SP2 option against the Yankees’ right-handed lineup. Jhony Brito is a decent, relatively inexpensive SP2 option on DraftKings, and the Twins offer value against him. However, with the absence of Byron Buxton, Nick Gordon is the top option for the Twins. The Yankees, on the other hand, are a strong stack, with Anthony Rizzo and Franchy Cordero as the most appealing hitters.

Detroit Tigers vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Spencer Turnbull has been good at limiting power, but he faces a tough spot against the power-hitting Blue Jays in a favorable hitter’s park. Chris Bassitt is one of the top three pitchers on the slate, with a 3.85 xFIP and a 21.8% strikeout rate last season. He is expected to perform well against the weak Tigers offense and is one of the best pitching options on the slate. He also threw 109 pitches last start, so there are no concerns about how deep into the game he will be allowed to work.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Jordan Montgomery is one of the top three pitchers on the slate, with a favorable matchup against the Pirates. He has a 3.46 xFIP and a 22% strikeout rate since the start of last season. The Cardinals offense is also in a good spot against Vince Velasquez, who has allowed 1.93 home runs per nine innings since the start of last season. There is power throughout the Cardinals’ lineup, making them an interesting stacking option.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Diego Padres
It is unclear who will be pitching for the Brewers, but it is expected to be a bullpen game to some extent. Padres starter Nick Martinez is a mediocre pitcher in a decent spot against Milwaukee, with favorable pitching conditions in San Diego. He is comparable to Brito as an SP2 option. The Padres offer tournament upside with the amount of talent in their lineup, but there is not much else to say with knowing Milwaukee’s pitching situation.
