It’s always fun to be able to roster Victor Wembanyama at low ownership, and he’s the top contrarian stud on DraftKings at $10,700. Wemby has been sensational all season, but he’s taken his game to the next level since the All-Star break. Averaging 48.4 DraftKings points per game on the season, that number rises to a whopping 63.48 in the six games since the break. Finally playing 30+ minutes per night consistently, Wemby’s ceiling is on par with the top players in the league. Despite his clear upside, Wemby’s rising $10,700 price tag has the field sleeping on him in a big way on DraftKings.

76ers-Nets: Kelly Oubre Jr.

Kelly Oubre Jr. is the highest graded leverage play in Stokastic’s tools, and he’s the obvious top contrarian mid-tier play on DraftKings at $5,300. Oubre has been much more solid than spectacular in his first season in Philly, but he’s playing well right now, and there’s a lot to like about him on DraftKings at a falling price tag.

Oubre has been a fantasy basketball enigma for much of his NBA career, and nothing about this season would suggest that anything has changed. In the absence of Joel Embiid, however, the Sixers are dearth of scoring options, and Oubre’s production off the bench is needed when the 76ers’ go-to options don’t have it going. Although efficiency has always been an issue for Oubre, his ability to occasionally catch fire makes him an elite tournament play on DraftKings at a price tag that continues to drop.

76ers-Nets: Mo Bamba

Sticking with the 76ers, Mo Bamba is the top contrarian value play on DraftKings at $4,400. Although he’s not getting completely forgotten about, the field is backing off of Bamba in a big way after a couple of disappointing performances.

While he’s usually just a fringe rotation piece when Embiid is healthy, Bamba has started three straight games for a 76ers team desperate for a front court presence. Unfortunately for Bamba, however, he’s only averaging 17 minutes played over the past three games so it’s irrational to just think he plays more tonight. That said, there’s no reason he couldn’t play more and Bamba is very Andre Drummond-like in his ability to rack up fantasy points when he’s on the floor. Although there’s definitely opportunity cost in using a center or utility spot on a $4,400 Bamba, he’s got slate breaking upside if the minutes play out in his favor.

With only 6.80% of lineups projected to roster him, Bamba is an easy way to get contrarian without sacrificing any upside.
