Core Play of the Day — Domantas Sabonis — Sacramento Kings at Houston Rockets

De’Aaron Fox remains out with an ankle sprain, though there is a chance he could return to action next week. For tonight, that means Domantas Sabonis is going to have the ball in his hands on nearly every possession with a chance for an assist or a bucket of his own. Since the beginning of last season, when the Kings’ dynamic duo is on the court together, Sabonis averages 1.31 fantasy points per minute. When he is rolling solo, Sabonis sees an increase to 1.36 fantasy points per minute, with an increase in his assist rate from 25.6% to 34.3% in 1,173 minutes.

Additionally, in his last nine games without Fox, the son of basketball legend Arvydas Sabonis has averaged 35.75 minutes, 12.6 field goal attempts, 13.0 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.5 combined blocks and rebounds for a tick shy of 50 fantasy points. Sabonis has led the league in rebounds per game last season, and he topped the leaderboard with 65 double-doubles in 79 (82.3%) of his games. This year he has rattled off four consecutive double-doubles on his way to leading the league by corralling 14 caroms per appearance.

Malik Monk stands out as a strong fantasy point-per-dollar play on FanDuel ($5,000), though all of the Kings are at appropriate salaries on DraftKings. They are all viable tournament targets on both sites, just know that the popularity will be significantly higher on the blue site.

Terry Rozier — Charlotte Hornets at Indiana Pacers

This is a good matchup tonight for Terry Rozier, who is about 8% undervalued on both DraftKings and FanDuel. That has him as one of the best building blocks of the night, particularly with so many good options at the center position. This is a back-to-back for the Pacers as well as their third game in four days. Indiana has played at the third fastest pace with 104.3 possessions per 48 minutes, with the second worst defensive efficiency, ceding 114.8 points per 100 possessions.

Charlotte has been mostly running a nine-man rotation, with Rozier, LaMelo Ball and combo guard Theo Maledon as the main offensive facilitators. That has resulted in Rozier averaging almost 37 minutes of run over the last four games, with the versatile guard scoring at least 20 points in each outing. Though he has topped 40 fantasy points only once this season, he has a secure outcome with a baseline in the mid-30s — with upside if his shot is falling.

Centers of Attention

Centers are plentiful tonight with options up and down the salary list. Anthony Davis is a strong play having had three days off after logging 48 minutes in overtime.

On the cheap side, Goga Bitadze could get a start with Wendell Carter Jr. out, though he is a risky play to see more than 16 minutes, even at a minimum salary. Moritz Wagner could also get the start at center and he provides more flexibility with power forward eligibility, plus a regular rotation role.

Alperen Sengun and Rudy Gobert can be enigmatic, but they do have slate-breaking upside. We also still have Christian Wood off the bench for the Lakers and Onyeka Okongwu playing the same role for the Hawks.

Myles Turner played 31 minutes last night, but he has 40 or more fantasy points in three of four, plus a good matchup in Charlotte.

Tonight he stands out as a key play to be over the field on when looking at the Stokastic NBA Lineup Generator which is currently available for 50% off the usual $8.95 per week stand-alone option.

Running a 20-lineup set for DraftKings, using no parameters shows that Turner should be utilized on 50% of rosters, which is well above his 32% projected popularity.

The proprietary Lineup Generator which incorporates all the tools (Boom/Bust) and data (player projections and popularity) and of course simulations of the slate and how that impacts the potential ROI for your lineups and those of the field.

Rozier, Haliburton (if healthy) and Bruce Brown Jr. can be incorporated with Rozier, for what looks like a lively game-stack with a 239.5 projected point total creating a fantasy friendly environment.

Taking a gander at FanDuel, again not using any parameters such as balanced, chalky or contrarian lineups, and not locking in any specific player, we can see that Turner falls well down the list, but his teammates are still at the top. In this case it is Brown who fills in one of two crucial small forward slots on the blue site.

Additionally, a swarm of Hornets also appear on a significant portion of lineups, which again confirms that this matchup may be underrepresented in tournaments.

Additional NBA Building Blocks Pick — Sports Betting Opportunities

LaMelo Ball is someone to consider in the sports wagering market with a -122 line to fall short of 8.5 assists. NBA Bet Pro currently has Ball projected for 31.8 minutes and 7.69 assists, with true odds of -145, which is how OddsShopper measures the potential expected ROI; that is indicative of a line that is inefficient by close to 6%.

Ball has topped this milestone in two of his five appearances and while this is likely to go down to the wire, on a long time horizon, this is the sort of savvy opportunity we want to be taking advantage of to sustain and build bankrolls.
