NBA DFS Value and Advice | March 8
Atlanta Hawks vs. Washington Wizards
This game is a good one to target, with Trae Young as the top priority from Atlanta. The Washington Wizards have the worst pick-and-roll defense in the NBA, making Young the second-best player in pick-and-roll possessions per game. Other secondary plays from Atlanta include Dejounte Murray, De’Andre Hunter and Saddiq Bey. Clint Capela and Bogdan Bogdanovic are reasonable contrarian plays in GPPs. On the other side, Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis are the top options from Washington, followed by Kyle Kuzma. Deni Avdija and Delon Wright are decent value plays.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Miami Heat
There is not much to like about this game. Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley are all viable contrarian plays in tournaments, but there are no priorities. The situation is similar for Miami, with Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler all offering high ceilings at low ownership but are correctly priced, if not overpriced in a tough matchup.
Portland Trail Blazers vs. Boston Celtics
Jusuf Nurkic is questionable, and if he plays, it takes some usage away from everyone else. However, there is still an extremely high ceiling for Damian Lillard, especially if Nurkic is out. Jerami Grant is a secondary play as well. Cam Reddish and Matisse Thybulle offer value based on their playing time, but both are risky, low-usage options (especially Thybulle). Jayson Tatum stands out from Boston, and Jaylen Brown is an appealing contrarian play in tournaments.

Dallas Mavericks vs. New Orleans Pelicans
Tim Hardaway Jr. is likely to start if Reggie Bullock is out, which would see an increased playing time. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are always solid plays. Christian Wood offers upside, but he is projected for a lot of ownership right now considering there is no guarantee he plays more than 20 to 22 minutes. Josh Green and Justin Holiday are both poor fantasy producers who are likely to play a lot of minutes if Bullock is out. Brandon Ingram and C.J. McCollum stand out for New Orleans. Jonas Valanciunas, Herbert Jones, Trey Murphy and Josh Richardson are all worth considering in tournaments at low ownership.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Phoenix Suns
The game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Phoenix Suns is an extremely tricky one, with the Thunder double-digit underdogs. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander out, there is a huge ceiling for Josh Giddey, who is likely to outproduce his salary if he plays four quarters. Other value pieces to consider include Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Joe, Ousmane Dieng, Jaylin Williams and Dario Saric, as there are plenty of minutes available. Tre Mann, who did not play yesterday, could also pick up minutes in Gilgeous-Alexander’s absence at minimum salary and very little projected ownership. Deandre Ayton’s usage is down with Kevin Durant present, but he still offers upside at a decreased price tag against a weak frontcourt. Devin Booker and Durant have high ceilings at reasonable prices, but they are risky since they may not be needed in the fourth quarter. Durant played 40 minutes last game, so it appears that he is no longer limited.

Chicago Bulls vs. Denver Nuggets
The Chicago Bulls and the Denver Nuggets face off in a game with no clear priorities for Chicago. However, there are plenty of contrarian plays to consider, such as Nikola Vucevic, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan, all of whom are low owned with high ceilings. LaVine has been stealing usage from DeRozan recently. Alex Caruso, Coby White and Patrick Beverley are all difficult to trust, but they are low-owned and not that different from other more popular value plays. Nikola Jokic is great if you can find the salary. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown offer value, while Jamal Murray is a secondary play. Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. both offer low-owned upside.
Toronto Raptors vs. Los Angeles Clippers
The game between the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Clippers has a cheap price tag on Pascal Siakam, who is a great value play. Jakob Poeltl has played great and is still affordable. The rest of the starters are viable contrarian plays but not as easy to get into lineups. Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook are the two most appealing plays from the Clippers. Paul George has a high ceiling but falls behind Leonard now that they are similarly priced.
