Pricing tonight on DraftKings is tough with a lot of top players that we love to play getting a bump. With that being said, here are a couple of players that Awesemo and I (Tommienation1) like at the top-tier and as values. We’ll get a quote from Awesemo first, and then I’ll follow up with some additional analysis.
Top-Tier
Seth Jones ($6,300 DK/$6,000 FD)
“Jones should play big minutes tonight once again coming off a 28-minute, 4 point performance against the Canucks. 25+ minutes and top power-play time puts him as one of the best spend-up options on the board.”
Jones (“A” points grade and FD value) will likely play the most minutes of any skater tonight for the Blue Jackets, who have a massive team total at home against the Red Wings. He is averaging over 6 shot attempts over his last 15 games, and he should be able to attain that number tonight against a sub-par Detroit team. At this price, he’s one of the top defensemen on the board in a game that Columbus has to win.
Taylor Hall ($7,900 DK/$8,400 FD)
“The Devils’ 3.7 implied total bodes well for their best player, as he should see near 20 minutes of ice time in favorable even-strength matchups as well as top power-play time.”
You’re probably sick of seeing this guy listed here seemingly every slate, but Hall has proven himself to be matchup proof as he seems to get it done each and every game. He leads his team in in pretty much every offensive category that we as DFSers care about, and the matchup against the Rangers should be favorable, especially if the Devils hard-match the Zajac line vs. the Zibanejad line. This would free up Hall against the Chytil and Andersson lines which have been pretty poor in short samples so far. He’s one of the most expensive skaters on the slate, but this is a spot where he could have another multi-point performance at what should be reasonable ownership (10-15%) in tournaments.
Value
Artturi Lehkonen ($3,500 DK/$4,600 FD)
“Lehkonen’s Canadiens will face a Jets’ team that is on the back end of a road back-to-back with a total that is a half-goal above their monthly average.”
The even-strength matchup for Lehkonen (“A” value on both sites)and his linemates is pretty interesting tonight, as they should face the Stastny line for the Jets. WPG2 allows over 27 Scoring Chances Against per 60 minutes and 12 High-Danger Chances Against per 60 minutes at evens-strength, and they have been short-handed the 5th-most times in the NHL on the road this year. A tired Jets team that doesn’t have much to play for could mean a letdown spot for the Jets, and Lehkonen won’t have to worry about facing the opposing top line tonight.
