Once again we have a slate with a lot of stacks that I’m interested in using in GPPs tonight. There are 9 games to pick from tonight, and it’s looking like the most ownership will come from PIT, WPG-TOR, and McDavid’s line, which leaves plenty of other options on the board that are worthy of your attention. We’ll get Awesemo’s words on the stack first, then I (Tommienation1) will follow up with some extra analysis.
NJ1: Hall-Hischier-Palmieri ($19,500 DK/$20,200 FD)
“The Devils’ 3.7 implied total against a tired Islanders’ team that just gave up five goals last night suggest their top line could do some damage tonight.”
The Islanders’ are on the second half of a back-to-back, and they have enough problems limiting shots and scoring chances even when they’re rested. In March, they have allowed the 2nd-most Corsi Against per 60 minutes as well as the 7th-most Scoring Chances Against per 60 minutes on the road. As the Devils fight for their playoff lives, they will likely ride their top line for near 20 minutes tonight including top power-play time for Hall and Palmieri. In GPPs, this “A” grade stack is in about as good of a spot you can ask for, especially if you can stomach the hefty ownership that they’ll get.
CAR3: Teravainen-Aho-Zykov ($16,100 DK/$16,300 FD)
“The Hurricanes best line of late will get another great matchup against the Rangers at home, where Carolina has a 3.6 implied total. The even-strength plus power-play matchup makes this line a bargain on both sites.”
This line has been a wrecking crew at even-strength so far, posting a 66.7 Corsi For Percentage, almost 36 Scoring Chances For per 60 minutes, and 12.3 High-Danger Chances For per 60 minutes. They shouldn’t have to worry about going up against the top line for the Rangers, as Jordan Staal and his linemates will have shutdown duties tonight. Instead, they should see the Chytil and Namestnikov lines, which are much softer defensively. Zykov will get PP2 time, while Teravainen and Aho will be on the top unit, further increasing their upside as a stack against a team that is already poor at even-strength, allowing over 65 Corsi Against per 60 minutes in March.
EDM1: Nugent-Hopkins-McDdavid-Rattie ($20,300 DK/$19,600 FD)
“The Oilers are heading into Calgary tonight to play a banged-up Flames team that will likely be without Sean Monahan, Matthew Tkachuk, and Travis Hamonic. This line has rolled over the last few games, and Vegas has a 2.9 total for the Oilers on the road, which is above their monthly overall average.”
Connor McDavid has been insanely good this whole season, but especially lately, carrying this line to fantastic numbers such as 33 Scoring Chances For per 60 minutes and 14.6 High-Danger Chances For per 60 minutes in over 100 minutes at even-strength. The “A” points grade is well-deserved, as they make for a solid tournament stack against the Flames, who are missing a lot of key pieces. Even at this price and on the road against Mikael Backlund (who is without his usual linemate,Tkachuk) the Oilers’ top line is a scary fade.
