Best NRFI Picks Today: MLB Prop Bets Wednesday 7/27 & $200 FREE at BetMGM

It’s a spread-out slate today on the diamond, from early action to a headliner later tonight. That means plenty of value stretched out across the day. Be it a No Run First Inning or a Yes Run First Inning bet, the strategy is to combine recent hitting and pitching trends, ballpark data, and the first inning moneyline tool at OddsShopper. Here are the best value plays for tonight’s action with the best NRFI bets for Wednesday, July 27.

Yankees vs. Mets Pick | Claim $200 FREE at BetMGM

The NRFI didn’t cash last night thanks to Aaron Judge blasting one out of the park. Tonight should carry a similar theme, as both lineups have plenty of potential for an early score — even if it’s not a moon shot. Max Scherzer gets the nod tonight for the Mets and has a career 4-4 record against the Yankees and a 3.93 ERA. After last night’s first inning explosion for both teams, tonight should afford a similar opportunity for the Mets bats against Domingo German — who was lit up in his season debut last start. German has a 4.60 ERA in four starts against the Mets, so expect more scoring chances tonight. The Mets put up four runs in the opening frame last night, increasing their average runs per first inning (RPFI) to 0.85 on the season (while at home in Citi Field). The Yankees are third best on the road, with an average of 0.63 RPFI.

Cardinals vs. Blue Jays Pick | Claim $200 FREE at BetMGM

The Cardinals got on the board in the first last night, increasing their RPFI average on the road to 0.59 — sixth best in all of baseball. They create scoring opportunities combine that with plenty of power at the top of their lineup. Toronto put up three runs in the first last game, increasing their RPFI at home to 0.60 this season. Having Adam Wainwright and Kevin Gausman on the mound is going to push the favorite towards an NRFI, but both have been hittable and at least are giving up walks. Interestingly, OddsShopper has the Jays as a heavy -170 favorite to win the first inning, compared to the Cardinals at +140. Getting to Wainwright seems like a decent ask, with Toronto nearing a 2-1 favorite to score in the first and win the inning.

Astros vs. Athletics Pick | Claim $200 FREE at BetMGM

Both teams were a disappointment last night in failing to cash in a YRFI. Tonight’s pitching matchup is an even larger indication of a scoreless opening frame, mainly at the hands of Cole Irvin. The Athletics ace has been just that in the month of July, mowing down opposing batters to the tune of a 1.67 ERA. The Astros happen to be one of baseball’s best teams at scoring first inning runs on the road, averaging 0.64 RPFI away from Houston. The difference is Irvin has been better and more consistent in first innings than the Astros bats. Cristian Javier comes off a solid outing in his last appearance against Oakland and has the support of the Astros only giving up 0.37 RPFI on the road — second best in all of baseball.
