The Eastern Conference Finals has been the definition of a back-and-forth series, tied at two after each team split games on their home court. Game 5 is back in Miami where the Heat are 7-1 at home in the playoffs, but enter tonight’s game as a 1.5-point underdog. Miami hopes to regain the lead in FTX Arena on Wednesday night. Jayson Tatum spearheaded a 102-82 Celtics victory over the Heat with a 31-point performance on eight-of-16 shooting from the field in their previous outing. Can Tatum and Boston bring that same production on the road in Game 5? This is a crucial game for the Celtics if they want to have the chance to close out the series on their home court and avoid a Game 7 back in Miami. The game gets underway at 8:3o p.m. ET on ESPN.

The Boston Celtics were all business on Monday in a 20-point victory over the Miami Heat. The Celtics busted out to an 18-point lead in the first quarter and coasted to victory from there. Tatum needs to find some consistency in his deep shot after going just two-of-14 from 3 over his last two games. Jaylen Brown struggled in Game 4 as he scored just 12 points on five-for-20 shooting while Grant Williams scored seven points on one-of-eight shooting. As a team, the Celtics shot 39% from the field and eight-of-34 from the 3-point line. Marcus Smart and Robert Williams are both questionable to play in this game. Williams was able to log 19 minutes in Game 4, while Smart was unable to suit up as he nursed an ankle injury. The Celtics’ Game 4 win was all about their defensive efforts, particularly in the first quarter where they held the Heat to 11 points. The Celtics got away without having their best defender on Monday, but defense is always tougher on the road, so keep an eye on injury updates throughout the day.

The Miami Heat hobble into Wednesday with the series tied at two games apiece. The Heat will need to forget about their poor offensive performance and come back with a vengeance in Game 5. Victor Olapido was the bright spot for Miami in Game 4, posting 23 points in 30 minutes of play off the bench. The Miami starters saw no more than 28 minutes of play in Game 4, so Heat fans should be hopeful that this rest was beneficial for Game 5. Jimmy Butler scored a measly six points in a game where his team shot 33.3% from the floor. Oladipo and Caleb Martin were the only players that scored in double figures, and they both came off the bench. Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, P.J. Tucker, Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry are all listed as questionable heading into Wednesday. Miami is hopeful that most of these players will be active come tip-off, but their injuries are worth monitoring. Butler and Bam Adebayo must show up in Game 5 if the Heat want to regain the lead in this series.

Neither Boston or Miami had a great night shooting on Monday. The total has dropped two points from Game 4, with the current line set at 203.5 points on Wednesday. The Heat are averaging 111.5 points at home in the playoffs while shooting 48.3% from the field — much greater numbers than their playoff averages overall. The game total is averaging 212.7 points through the first four games of this series. The total has gone over this line in three-of-four games. Despite all the injuries Miami is dealing with, expect a better offensive showing from the Heat on their home court. Looking at the betting trends, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Miami and 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall. Games 1 and 2 soared over this total in Miami and you can bank on Miami’s offense bouncing back after Monday’s poor showing. Ride the OVER in Wednesday’s Game 5 matchup.
