With 132 players in the field this week, there will be plenty of opportunities to find golfers that not a lot of gamers know about and create the edge necessary to score big this week at the Sony Open.

PGA DFS Favorites: $9,000 and Above
- 10 golfers
A well-priced field this week, as none of the 10 golfers $9,000 and above are projected for less than 10% ownership. For the second straight week, Cameron Smith is trending towards the highest-owned golfer of the slate, somewhere close to 30%, and rightfully so. Not too far behind is Sungjae Im, who continues his good form. Talor Gooch was a little shaky with the putter last week but still comes in as the third golfer from the top end of the board that is projected to be owned over 20%. Webb Simpson, who boasts some solid course history here, is coming in just shy of 20%, while Marc Leishman, Hideki Matsuyama and Corey Conners have middling ownership around 15%.
That leaves three golfers that have projected ownership of around 10%:
- Abraham Ancer
- Kevin Na
- Harris English
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
All three of the golfers above played last week, and of the three, Na performed the best. He lost strokes putting and still performed well, while both Ancer and English struggled with most of their game. Na’s price is perfect: A bit too high for most to roster him, especially as the defending champion of the event.
PGA DFS Mid-Range ($8,900-$7,500)
- 22 golfers
Solid pricing throughout the board this week continues in the mid-range section, as only one golfer of the 22 is projected to be owned over 20%, and that is past champion of the event Russell Henley. He has been trending around the winner’s circle for quite some time but has not been able to break through. But gamers like the price and upside he provides this week, and he is coming in close to 30% owned. Only Joel Dahmen, who played well last week but had a few gaffs, comes close to 20% owned, as most of the golfers in the mid-range section are owned between 7% and 15%. Those towards the top end of that range that are expected to be owned around 15% include:
- Jason Kokrak
- Billy Horschel
- Matt Jones
- Maverick McNealy
- Seamus Power
- Si Woo Kim
The next batch of golfers that are projected around 10% owned are:
- Jason Kokrak
- Charles Howell III
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout
- Tom Hoge
- Matt Kuchar
That provides around 10 options of golfers that are projected for less than 10% ownership.
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
Of the golfers projected for less than 10% ownership right now, Cam Davis and Erik van Rooyen present great upside with their performances last week. Van Rooyen was hanging around the first page of the leaderboard all week until an abysmal 11th hole in the final round, while Davis marinated good form all week. Kevin Kisner is another one that played very well last week and carries a good bit of momentum over to Honolulu. Look to Keith Mitchell for upside among golfers priced towards the lower end of this price range.

PGA DFS Value Plays ($7,400 and Below)

Much different than last week, where only 18 golfers remained, there are around 100 golfers that are priced $7,400 and below this week. At this point, especially with the withdrawal of Garrick Higgo, only one of them is trending higher than 10% owned: Denny McCarthy. Even knocking the criteria down to 5%-plus owned only adds in a handful of golfers, including Lucas Glover, Scott Piercy, Stephan Jaeger, John Huh and Nick Hardy. A couple of interesting names this week include world No. 1 amateur Keita Nakajima and Max McGreevy, who finished off his fall swing with back-to-back top-20s.
