The 2022 Players Championship has easily been the longest 2.5 rounds of golf of the year, and maybe of the last ten years. But, with a solid forecast set for Monday, all 72 holes will be completed, and an excellent finish is in store. At the end of play today, Anirban Lahiri got to -9, making it 18 golfers within four of the lead, and 32 are within 5! With the third round not even done, that’ll shake itself out a bit, but nonetheless, the tournament is still wide open. This article will give a quick recap of the first three rounds, some statistics from the tournament thru the end of play today and some target for my PGA DFS picks for Round 4 DFS golf lineups where DraftKings is offering $100,000 to first place.
PGA DFS Golf Picks Today: Round 4 The Players Championship
Round 1-3 Recap
Plenty of names flashed across the top of the leaderboard, but Tom Hoge and Harold Varner have stayed close to the top almost all week. Paul Casey started his tournament with a triple, has fought back, and sits just two back of the leaders, playing some of the best golf over tournament after that first hole. Sam Burns has also played steadily all week but struggled a bit in the third round. The honor-blowing play for the day was likely a welcomed sight for him. On Saturday, Sebastian Munoz was one of the big movers after shooting 70,73 in the first two rounds. He is six under thru 14 holes and has already played the tough 17th and 18th holes, starting his day on the 10th.
To no one’s surprise, Daniel Berger is the leader of the original pm/am wave, tied with Doug Ghim just three back of the lead. Ghim, will come out in the morning and be looking at a chip for eagle just off the green on 11. Cameron Smith is also hanging around, but a late bogey in the day at the 10th hole puts him three back. He’ll have a 13 footer for birdie to start his day in the morning.
However, the highlight of the tournament is Shane Lowry’s ace at the famed island green 17th hole. It was a beautiful master class shot with ideal spin and perfect touch. It really was a sight to see. Take a look for yourself if you happen to miss it:

Best PGA DFS Picks Today for DraftKings Showdown
A cold but sunny day is in store on Monday, with no rain in the forecast. Finishing points will be assigned to golfers for the final round showdown slate. For lineup making, there won’t be quite enough time to optimize lineups once they repair, so we’ll have to take a few things at face value. First, like always, we can expect the higher-priced golfers who aren’t inside the top 25 of the event are likely going to be very low-owned. A few golfers that check this box include Jon Rahm ($10,800), Viktor Hovland ($10,500), Will Zalatoris ($9,800), Scottie Scheffler ($9,500), Rory McIlroy ($9,300) and Dustin Johnson ($9,100). For reference, Mcilroy and Scheffler were both owned under 10% for round three showdown today.
Of those guys above, I’d expect to see Johnson, Scheffler, and Mcilroy the lowest owned for the final round slate, as Zalatoris and Rahm could still make a run, and Hovland’s ball striking will be lauded by gamers enough for him to get solid interest in the final round. All of my lineups will likely feature at least one of the Scheffler Mcirloy Johnson combo.
Here are the players in my player pool for the final round slate: This list will be updated once play for round three is just about finished, around 45 minutes before tee-off. Check out our PGA DFS Showdown Projections and Ownership Projections.
