PGA DFS & Fantasy Golf Preview for the Charles Schwab Challenge 2022

Jason Rouslin

The week after a major can always feel like a letdown, with a great reduction in coverage, a weaker field, and not nearly as many storylines, it can be  hard to get excited. But, with $200,000 being offered to first place this week on DraftKings, and plenty of options on the betting site, there’s enough to take it seriously. This article will provide a course and player preview, as well as a PGA DFS slate preview, as we start our coverage for the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge.

Charles Schwab Challenge 2022 PGA DFS Player Preview

A week after a major typically doesn’t have a strong field, but that’s not the case here this week, as six of the world’s top 10 golfers are here. Scottie Scheffler, still ranked #1 in the world, will try to avenge his missed cut at last week’s PGA Championship with a win, which would be his first in his home state of Texas. Collin Morikawa will try to find some semblance of a putting stroke, as last week didn’t go his way. The now two-time major champion Justin Thomas is also scheduled to tee it up, as of right now, along with Viktor Hovland and Jordan Spieth, who will look for the “Dallas Sweep” here this week.

Plenty of eyes will be on Will Zalatoris this week who could not come thru in the playoff vs. Thomas at the PGA Championship, and should be a favorite again here this week, but fatigue could be a factor. Other big names scheduled to tee it up this week include Sungjae Im who unfortunately had to withdraw from last week’s PGA Championship due to catching covid back in his home country of South Korea, where he was scheduled to play in an event there before heading to the Tulsa.

Course History at Colonial Country Club:

As we mentioned about the top, Colonial has been a host of this event for quite some time. That will give us plenty of history to go off, when trying to build the profile for the optimal golfer here this week.

Tail Awesemo's Sports Betting Picks Today!

Jordan Spieth has played here every year since 2013,with nine starts, and he’s made the cut in all of them. His worst finish is 32nd, and he has six top 10s in nine trips, including a win in 2016. No other golfer even comes close to that level of success here at Colonial. Jason Kokrak’s more recent performance here is starting to challenge Spieth though, after coming in a third and first in the last two years. Prior to that had two missed cuts in five tries with no top 10s. There are only two other golfers with multiple top 10s here in the last five years: Brian Harman, Emiliano Grillo and Kevin Na.

Dropping down the criteria to golfers that have at come in the top 20 at least twice in the last five years include names like Collin Morikawa, Abraham Ancer, Tony Finau, Daniel Berger, Joel Dahmen, C.T. Pan, and Rory Sabbatini.
