Devon Travis
FD: $2300 | Fpts: B | Value: A
DK: $3100 | Fpts: B | Value: A
Travis has seen his price plummet do to a bit of a cold start, but the Blue Jays loss is our gain. While the sample size is small (198 PAs in 3 years), Travis has shown some pop against LHP, slugging .476 with a .185 ISO. Combine his split performance with his price and his place in the order, and you have the makings of an exceptional value play.
Editor’s Note: Because of his cold streak, Devon Travis got bumped down to 9th in the order. Although he’s still playable, I would recommend Steve Pearce as a great alternative, ranked A in points and value on DraftKings and FanDuel.
Shin-soo Choo
FD: $2600 | Fpts: A | Value: A
DK: $3400 | Fpts: A | Value: A
Choo has made a career out of hitting right handed pitching, with a three-year OBP of .363 and a SLG of .459. No small sample here, as Choo as seen 1070 plate appearances vs. righties in that stretch. Even though the Rangers are underdogs, they still sport a very tasty implied team total. All of these things lead to Choo having an A/A rating on both sites.
Mike Trout
FD: $4800 | Fpts: A | Value: E
DK: $5500 | Fpts: A | Value: B
Not a lot of hot takes here. Trout is arguably the best hitter in baseball, and he has a match-up against Oakland’s Daniel Gossett. Gossett gave up 21 home runs in just 91.1 innings in 2017. He’ll have a very narrow margin for error against Trout. Trout’s top end tonight is as high as anyone else on the slate, and his price on DK even provides a nice value.
Travis batting 9th today. Is he still a play?
