NASCAR DFS Picks: Top Drivers for the 2024 Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa

Who saw this coming just a few years ago? Iowa Speedway, which was once pulled from the NASCAR national touring series’ schedules entirely, will host its first-ever NASCAR Cup Series race this Sunday. Although we don’t have any Cup data to work with, we’ve got plenty of Xfinity and Truck Series numbers to look at when handicapping this race, and comparator tracks like the recently repaved North Wilkesboro should help. Without further ado, let’s dive into our top NASCAR DFS picks for the 2024 Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway, including Joey Logano.

This article was written before our NASCAR DFS projections run. Check back on Sunday morning for Stokastic’s industry-leading NASCAR DFS projections, including our top drivers tool!

Iowa Speedway, which was host to some incredible Xfinity, Truck and IndyCar Series action over the last few years, has been ruined. At least for now. The partial repave in the corners means drivers will have a ton of grip on the bottom and pretty much nothing on the top, giving drivers one legitimate lane to work with. Don’t expect much passing in the inaugural event.

Qualifying is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, which is just after this article will go live. As we saw with the All-Star Race on the repaved North Wilkesboro surface, whoever starts up front will have a major advantage because of how difficult it is to pass on short tracks in the NextGen car.

Taking a driver on the front row should be an easy way to rack up dominator points, and the polesitter should be a good investment regardless of their salary. I hate to preemptively write a race off as a snoozer, but whoever decided a partial repave was a good idea should be blamed for a likely disappointing debut event.

Joey Logano

I’m only going to write about one actual driver in this column, which sucks, but that’s literally what I did for the All-Star Race, and I was right to do so: the polesitter won with easy. But as for our featured driver, Joey Logano ($9,300 at DraftKings) just has a knack of winning things we haven’t seen before: he won the first Cup Series events at Bristol Dirt, Gateway and the L.A. Coliseum — the latter of which was also the first event in the NextGen car. He didn’t win the first race back at North Wilkesboro, but he won the first race after the repave.

The most important of those wins for our purposes is the most recent All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro. This event profiles quite similar to that one, as this is another short-track event that should feature little passing due to the recently repaved corners. Logano is a great defensive driver, so if he starts the race up front, he is unlikely to let many people by. I’ll condition this pick on Logano scoring a top-10 starting spot in qualifying: if Logano starts near the front, he’ll be hard to shuffle back.
