NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Projections & High-Upside Plays

In NBA DFS and daily fantasy basketball as a whole, it is not as simple as rostering who we think the best play is. We have to consider the odds each individual player has of going off or busting. NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Cody Zeller vs. Heat: $5,300/$5,200

25% DraftKings Boom/36.7% FanDuel Boom

Zeller remains a good value play. He is coming off his best game of the season against the Bucks where he nearly had a triple-double. The stats are obviously nice, but I find the playing time even more promising. Zeller played 34 minutes, and it looks like the Hornets plan to play him as many minutes as foul trouble will allow. There are games where fouls will limit his playing time, but this looks like the only thing that could hold Zeller back right now. He is scoring over a fantasy point per minute and looks like he is going to regularly play over 30 minutes.

Giannis Antetokounmpo vs. Blazers: $11,600/$11,000

20.2% DraftKings Boom/21.4% FanDuel Boom

The recent playing time for Giannis is unlike anything we have seen from him. He’s played over 35 minutes in six consecutive games, including playing 39 minutes in both sides of last week’s back-to-back situation. Assuming the same minutes, it’s difficult for me to project Giannis as anything other than the top scorer on the slate by a wide margin. He led the league in fantasy points per minute, and the only thing holding him back was a lack of playing time. This is no longer an issue, and the recent stretch of games leads me to think that the back-to-back MVP could post the best fantasy season of his career.

Tyrese Haliburton vs. Pelicans: $5,400/$5,200

20.1% DraftKings Boom/28.1% FanDuel Boom

Due to a change in closing lineups, Haliburton is seeing extra run as of late. The Kings were closing games with traditional lineups and Marvin Bagley at center, which no longer is the case. The Kings are finishing games with smaller lineups, and this means Haliburton is closing games in place of Bagley. As a result, he has played over 30 minutes in four consecutive games. With more playing time security, Haliburton is one of the stronger value plays on the slate. His salary on FanDuel and DraftKings is yet to adjust for his new role.

NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Victor Oladipo vs. Thunder: $8,200/$8,000

57.7% DraftKings Bust/51.6% FanDuel Bust

Oladipo’s price is up and there a few mouths to feed in Houston. Christian Wood is healthy again and John Wall‘s playing time is trending back up. Wall came back from a knee injury with a minutes restriction, and I have him pegged for around 30 minutes tonight. The more Wall plays, the less fantasy production we are likely to see from Oladipo. The two figure to have a negative correlation this season since both are ball-dominant players. Even if the minutes are staggered, there is still competition for usage with DeMarcus Cousins on the second unit.
