NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Awesemo Grades | Feb. 3

Power Forward: Domantas Sabonis

DraftKings Grades: A, Values: A

FanDuel Grades: A, Values: B

Outside of the opening night of the season, $8,300 is the cheapest Sabonis has been on DraftKings in 2020-21. His salary peaked at $10,100 just 10 days ago, and Sabonis was incredible last night, scoring 60.75 DraftKings points in the blowout win over the Grizzlies. He is now amassing 48.3 DraftKings points per game in his last four starts, and for Wednesday night, he finds himself in the best possible matchup for a power forward against the Bucks. After being the top-ranked defense a year ago, Milwaukee has slipped to 15th in defensive efficiency this season. They are at their weakest against power forwards, allowing a league-high 73.2 DraftKings points per game to the position.

Of the 10 games on the card tonight, this clash of division rivals presents the highest over/under at 232 points. This is the largest total Indiana has been a part of this season, and in the three Pacers tilts that carried a total of at least 225 points this year, Sabonis excelled with 48.5 DraftKings points per game. In my best advice, don’t overthink this one; make the stud big man one of your core plays on DraftKings tonight.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 24.1%, FanDuel 26.6%

Point Guard: Ish Smith

DraftKings Grades: D, Values: D

FanDuel Grades: D, Values: B

It has yet to be confirmed, but Russell Westbrook should sit out tonight after playing 33 minutes in Tuesday’s loss to the Blazers. He hasn’t played in the second contest of a back-to-back this season, and once he is ruled out, Smith will automatically be one of the best daily fantasy basketball values of the night on both DraftKings and FanDuel. With Raul Neto (groin) also expected to be inactive, Smith should start at point guard for Washington and approach 30 minutes against a struggling Miami defense.

Over their last 10, the Heat rank 23rd in defensive rating, while the Wizards rank 29th. Unsurprisingly, this game’s total is all the way up to 228 points, the second-highest mark of this 10-game slate. Smith has produced right under 1 DraftKings point per minute this season, and if we look at his last 10 with 25 minutes or more, he has been an outstanding, with 30.1 DraftKings points per game.

Update: As expected, both Westbrook and Neto have been ruled out.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 3.5%, FanDuel 7.5%

Shooting Guard: Victor Oladipo

DraftKings Grades: A, Values: B

FanDuel Grades: A, Values: B

Don’t let Oladipo’s up-and-down game log fool you; he is going to ball out tonight with John Wall (Achilles) sidelined. When Wall has been absent, Oladipo has started at point and flourished as the Rockets’ top option. In the four games he has played sans Wall since being dealt to Houston, Oladipo has contributed 39 DraftKings points per game.

In all the time he has logged with Wall off the court, Oladipo has led Houston with a 34.2% usage rate and a 34.5% assist percentage, resulting in 1.3 DraftKings points per minute. As for his matchup, Oladipo is going head-to-head with a Thunder defense that rates as the fifth-worst group in basketball over their last 10 games. Plus, they will be without their best player point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (knee), and the Rockets boast an implied team total of 114.75 points. Oladipo is very underpriced on both DraftKings and FanDuel, and over 50 fantasy points is certainly possible for him.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 19.1%, FanDuel 17.8%

Power Forward: DeMar DeRozan

DraftKings Grades: B, Values: A

FanDuel Grades: B, Values: A

Hopefully DeRozan’s last two outings keep his ownerships low because he is rating as an excellent value with LaMarcus Aldridge (hip) out of the lineup. This will be the fourth tilt Aldridge has missed this season, and DeRozan has led the Spurs with 40 DraftKings points per game on those occasions. DeRozan has only scored 19 DraftKings points per game in his past two, but his playing time was limited to under 30 minutes in both, with San Antonio getting blown out by Memphis two times in a row by an average of 19 points.

Before this, DeRozan had supplied 38.25 DraftKings points in 33.2 minutes per game across his previous eight. Tonight the Spurs carry the third-highest implied team total on the slate (116.25 points) against the Timberwolves. For the season Minnesota ranks 25th in defensive efficiency, and DeRozan’s best fantasy output of the season came against this club back in early January (51.25 DraftKings points). While his recent performances may suggest otherwise, DeRozan is a fine option for both cash games and GPPs on Wednesday.

Projected NBA DFS ownership projection: DraftKings 25.1%, FanDuel 22.9%
