NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Boom Candidates

Kevin Porter Jr. vs. Bulls: $6,800 DraftKings/$6,300 FanDuel

38.1% DraftKings Boom/51.4% FanDuel Boom

Even though the Rockets are expected to get Christian Wood back from injury today, this is still a very short-handed team. John Wall remains out because of knee soreness, and Victor Oladipo is out for rest since this is the tail end of a back-to-back. In addition, Danuel House, Ben McLemore and Rodions Kurucs are all listed as questionable to play. If these three are out, Houston is left with just eight active players. I assume Wood will play with a restriction, so Porter is going to have to do the heavy lifting for the Rockets. This isn’t anything new for him, and he’s playing fantastically since getting called up from the G League. Porter is averaging 40 DraftKings points in his first four games with Houston.

Russell Westbrook vs. Kings: $10,400 DraftKings/$10,400 FanDuel

28.5% DraftKings Boom/33.8% FanDuel Boom

Westbrook is my favorite pay up option on this slate. His salary doesn’t reflect that he is once again an elite fantasy player. Earlier in the season, his production was stunted as he acclimated to a new team and dealt with injuries. This is no longer an issue, and Westbrook has scored at least 45 DraftKings points in 14 consecutive games. His floor is high, and we always know he comes with triple-double upside. This comes in addition to playing in one of the most favorable game environments of the season. This game against the Kings has a total of 248 points, which is the highest mark on the slate by 13 points.

Tyrese Haliburton vs. Wizards: $5,500 DraftKings/$6,300 FanDuel

26% DraftKings Boom/21.9% FanDuel Boom

I like Haliburton for some of the same reasons I like Westbrook. This game is expected to have so many points scored that it makes a whole lot of sense to heavily target players on both sides. Haliburton played with a minutes restriction to open the second half of the season, but it looks like that is fading away. He played 18, 24 and 28 minutes in the last three games, so I expect full minutes for tonight’s game. In addition, Marvin Bagley broke his hand and is out for most of the remainder of the season. This is going to force Sacramento to play more small ball and should mean more minutes for Haliburton going forward.

NBA Fantasy Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Bust Candidates

Norman Powell vs. Pistons: $7,500 DraftKings/$7,700 FanDuel

61.6% DraftKings Bust/55.3% FanDuel Bust

The Raptors are a team I am totally avoiding tonight. After they were a key source of value over the last couple of weeks with many players missing, it looks like most will return today. Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam are both listed as questionable. Assuming they return, the production and usage for guys like Powell and Kyle Lowry will come down in a big way. They are also more expensive than normal due to the big games they put up when the Raptors were short-handed.
