NASCAR DFS Picks: Top Drivers for the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville (2024)

The NASCAR Cup Series will stay in Virginia for another weekend, heading from the state capital of Richmond to the small town of Martinsville. It may not stand out on a map, but Martinsville stands out in the NASCAR history books — it’s hosted NASCAR-sanctioned events since 1948. Without further ado, let’s get started with our top NASCAR DFS picks for the 2024 Cook Out 400 at Martinsville, including Ty Gibbs.

Ty Gibbs | Cook Out 400 NASCAR DFS Picks | Martinsville

Let’s lead off this weekend’s NASCAR DFS picks article with a simple line of advice: the pole-sitter will have a lot of value this weekend, as Martinsville is a half-mile track, which means we’re running 400 laps around the paperclip oval.

But even if he doesn’t win a starting spot up front, Ty Gibbs ($9,000 at DraftKings) should offer a load of value. He is a spend-down option in dominant Joe Gibbs Racing equipment. Gibbs’ teammates have swept the races on short, flat ovals this year, with Christopher Bell winning at Phoenix and Denny Hamlin winning at Richmond.

Gibbs is no slouch at Martinsville, either. In 2022, he led 56.4% of all possible laps in the Xfinity Series here, scoring one win and two top-10s across the two events. He didn’t get a good finish here in either of his Cup Series starts last season, but is too affordable to leave out of your NASCAR DFS lineups this weekend.

Austin Cindric | Cook Out 400 NASCAR DFS Picks

We’re taking a similar approach with this pick as we did with the Ty Gibbs pick: Austin Cindric’s ($6,400) teammates, Ryan Blaney ($10,500) and Joey Logano ($9,500) are spend-up options, but we can get him at a much cheaper price.

Of course, we’re getting Cindric at a discount because his resume and recent form aren’t nearly as impressive as Blaney’s or Logano’s. But Cindric isn’t bad at Martinsville — in the Xfinity Series, he put together strong runs in both of his fall starts, leading 40-plus laps and one runner-up finish.

Cindric’s Cup Series career hasn’t gone very well after winning the Daytona 500 in 2022, but Martinsville is a decent bounce-back spot for him. He finished P9 here last fall and P11 here in the spring of 2022, results that sandwich two races in which he failed to finish inside the top 20.

Short, flat ovals haven’t been bad for Cindric thus far. We didn’t get to see what he could muster at Phoenix after he crashed out early. He rebounded at Richmond by qualifying ninth but couldn’t keep pace and finished 23rd.

If Cindric starts close to the front row and can get dominator points early — or if he has to make his way from the back of the field — he could be a great value option at this price point.
