Game-7 hockey, anyone? This should be a fun tilt between the Maple Leafs and Bruins that will start at 7:30 ET, and the two main sites are giving us some decent Showdown/Single game contests to make this do-or-die game a little more interesting. Here are some plays/strategies that I (Tommienation1) will be rolling out in for the Game-7 contests.
The scoring system on FanDuel will essentially be the same outside of no goalie, but you will want (what you think will be) your top scorer to be in your “Captain” spot where you’ll get all of his scoring times 1.5. On DraftKings, Goals (8) and Shots on Goal (2) are weighted more than they are in the traditional scoring, but the faceoff bonus (0.2) is a little bit of a game-changer, making centers and guys who get a lot of faceoffs a little bit more valuable. Winning goalies can also score very well, which is similar to traditional scoring.
BOS3: Rick Nash-Riley Nash-David Backes ($19,100 DK/$25,100 FD)
If you can’t get up to the top Bruins line, taking some shots with the “third” line should get you some lineup differentiation and a lot of upside in tournaments. Both Rick Nash and Backes get power-play time, and Riley Nash gives you a little bit of safety with faceoffs (32/55 in 4 games this series). They will get very good even-strength matchups against the Kadri and Bozak lines at even-strength, so for this cheap on DK, they make for a fun GPP stack.
Patrice Bergeron ($11,700 DK/$11,000 FD)
Not only does Bergeron have one of the highest raw point projections for this game, but he is also fantastic in the faceoff circle, winning faceoffs at a 60.5% clip in this series. He’s playing with Pastrnak and Marchand at even-strength, as well as getting time on the top power-play. His combination of shot attempts (35 in 6 games), faceoffs, and ice-time make him the safest and arguably the highest upside play of this slate, so he’s going to be tough to leave out of any lineup for me.
David Pastrnak ($11,500 DK/$11,600 FD)
I’m taking all the Bruins I can get tonight, and Pastrnak is right up there with Bergeron as my favorite play of the night. He has attempted the most shots of anyone in the series by far (56) and created the most High-Danger Chances (9) as well. Pastrnak and the Bruins top line should have the advantage regardless of which line they get at even-strength, so even though he’ll be chalky, I can’t get away from playing him tonight in most, if not all, lineups tonight.
Tuukka Rask ($8,400 DK)
Rask has scored 13.4 DK points or more in the 3 Bruins wins this series, and as a -170 favorite on home ice tonight, he has a great chance to rack up points at a mid-tier price. This series has been high-event both ways, so the winning goalie here should get a big score tonight, especially if it is low-scoring. If you’re using a handful of Bruins skaters in your GPP lineup, Rask makes for a great correlation play at this price.
Tyler Bozak ($5,700 DK/$8,200 FD)
As a center, Bozak deserves a mention tonight on DK especially. He has posted 4 points this series on 20 shot attempts and 10 Scoring Chances. He’s also been good in the faceoff circle, winning 52 out of 94 (55.3%) this series. Bozak’s line won’t have to deal with the dominant Boston top line at even-strength which is more than Auston Matthews can say, so for a cheap filler play, he makes a lot of sense tonight in tournaments.
