NBA Best Bets: Game Tips & Expert Betting Predictions

Nets vs. Suns Best Bet

The Brooklyn Nets travel to the desert on Tuesday to face a red-hot Phoenix Suns team looking to extend their 10-game winning streak. The Nets will have a challenge on their hands, as they are without Kevin Durant, who remains sidelined through the All-Star break. The Suns continue to win games, even without their starting center Deandre Ayton. Ayton is set to miss his eighth straight game with an ankle sprain. These two teams matched up once this season with the Suns, defeating the Nets in Brooklyn 113-107 on Nov. 27.

For the first half of the season the Nets were on top of the East, but after four consecutive losses, they have fallen to sixth place. LaMarcus Aldridge is ruled out for Tuesday and will undergo an MRI on his ankle. James Harden has missed the last two games with a hand injury, but he was able to log a practice on Monday, leaving him questionable heading into tonight’s matchup. Kyrie Irving is available given they are playing on the road, and he is healthy. Irving is coming off a 32-point performance in his most recent game against the Warriors. The Nets are struggling to find the win column, losing four straight games. Regardless of the injuries, Brooklyn still manages to rank sixth in offensive rating on the season, averaging 111.9 points per game. The Nets have struggled on defense, ranking 25th over the last 10 games. Things will not get easier tonight against the third-ranked Phoenix offense.

The Suns are the most impressive team in the league this season, with a 40-9 record. Chris Paul is averaging a league-best 10.3 assists. He may not as good of a scorer as Stephen Curry or Ja Morant, but he is the best passer in the league and continues to be the floor general for the Suns. Phoenix has eight players averaging in double figures, led by Devin Booker with 25.1 points per game. Ayton (ankle), Jae Crowder (wrist) and Landry Shamet (ankle) are all ruled out for tonight. The Suns are leading the league on both ends of the floor, with the top net rating in the league and ranking top six in both offensive and defensive rating.

Despite the injuries for both squads, these two teams rank top 10 in offensive rating and field goal percentage. In addition, both teams are top 10 in pace. Good offenses plus fast pace equals lots of opportunity for points. The Nets are 13-11 over/under on the road. The Suns are 14-12 over/under at home. These two teams are averaging 237 combined points in their last five matchups. The Nets average more points on the road, and the Suns average more points at home. Even if Harden cannot go for the Nets, expect this game to be high tempo and for the total to go over.

Wizards vs. Bucks Best Bet

The Washington Wizards head to Milwaukee on Tuesday night for an Eastern Conference showdown versus the Bucks. The Wizards have lost five straight games, and ending a losing streak against the defending champion on the road seems unlikely as an 11.5-point underdog. Milwaukee comes into Tuesday 31-21 overall, fifth in the Eastern Conference and 1.5 games back of the Chicago Bulls for the top spot. Can Milwaukee bounce back on their home floor after getting stomped by the Nuggets on Sunday?

There are a lot of trade rumors swirling around Washington in the midst of their recent losing streak. According to reports, point guard Spencer Dinwiddie could be on his way out at the trade deadline. Dinwiddie has struggled this year on offense, and his teammates are speaking up on their opinions around his chemistry. To make matters worse, Washington’s leading scorer Bradley Beal will be sidelined for at least the next two games due to a sprained wrist. The Wizards rank 21st in both offensive rating and defensive rating this season. Washington’s offense is averaging 107.6 points per game, while their defense is allowing 110.1 per game. The Wizards have faced three straight top-10 defenses, two of which have held the Wizards to under 100 points scoring. Tonight they will go up against another top-10 defense, this time without Beal.

The Bucks are coming off a disappointing loss at home to the Hornets 136-100. The Bucks are 18-9 on their home court. George Hill has been ruled out for his second consecutive game due to neck soreness. Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to shine averaging 28.8 points, 11.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. Milwaukee’s X-factor this season has been Jrue Holiday who is averaging 17.9 points and 6.5 assists per game in his second season in Milwaukee. The Bucks offense ranks ninth on the season averaging 111.8 points per game. The Bucks defense cannot be forgotten as they rank 10th on the year in defensive rating holding opponents to 108.8 points per game.

Milwaukee is cashing the under is 55% of their games on their home court, both coming off losses and overall this season. This game fits all three criteria, putting this matchup in a good spot for the Bucks to continue that trend. These two teams have matched up once this season, with the total ending at 195 combined points. Washington’s offense will struggle to find consistent scoring without Beal. Look for the Bucks to bounce back in a big way against the hapless Wizards and for the total to go under.
