Bet Rays -1.5 (-104) vs. Mariners: Expert MLB Betting Picks, Odds & Predictions | Monday, August 2

Monday’s abbreviated MLB schedule still provides some exciting games to wager on this evening. There are a few profitable spots for MLB betting today, and I have outlined some of the MLB Vegas odds and free expert MLB picks and prop bets for today, Aug. 2.

Expert MLB Picks, Predictions & Vegas Odds

Baltimore Orioles at New York Yankees -1.5 (-130, PointsBet)

The new-look Yankees showed off their talent down in Miami this weekend, sweeping the Marlins in three games. Now they will take on an Orioles team that has been a little better than usual. Last year the Yankees dominated the Orioles, but they only hold a 6-4 lead in the 2021 season series. However, Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo add a nice offensive punch to this lineup, which already has plenty of stars. Baltimore sends right-hander Jorge Lopez to the mound, who has a 2-12 record to go along with a 6.19 ERA and 1.68 WHIP. There is no doubt that the Yankees will hang plenty of runs on the board.

Andrew Heaney will make his Yankees debut tonight. While the Orioles have exceptional numbers against left-handed pitching, Heaney will be locked with his first start on the new team. Heaney has registered a quality start in his last two starts, and the Yankees have won both as well.

Seattle Mariners at Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 (-104, SugarHouse)

Few teams have gotten a boost to their implied team total tonight, so the Rays’ +0.5 certainly stood out. After a nice start to the season, Mariners right-hander Chris Flexen has now stumbled in each of his last two outings, allowing a total of 15 hits and nine runs over 9.1 innings.

For the Rays, Michael Wacha will get the ball. Wacha has been much better at home, with an ERA 2.5 runs lower than on the road. Seattle has been much better at home too, so making another long trip probably will not look to great for its outlook tonight. It is worth noting how big of a favorite Tampa Bay is tonight. In fact, Seattle has not been this big of an underdog since June 30 against another American League East team on the road; Toronto won that game 9-7.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Moneyline (+195, William Hill)

According to the Awesemo MLB Power Rankings and Sports Betting Model, the Pirates have the highest expected return on investment for the whole day of games. Right-hander Bryse Wilson will be making his first start for the team he just pitched against as a member of the Braves. Wilson was strong in his last two outings, allowing only three runs over those 12.2 innings.

Left-hander Eric Lauer will start for Milwaukee, and he has been strong in recent outings – especially against the Pirates. In two recent outings he has allowed only two runs over a span of 9.1 innings against them. Lauer has certainly been the beneficiary of facing some weaker lineups lately, including Pittsburgh, and this is the third time he will be facing them in the span of a month.

Nearly all of the money is flooding in on the Brewers tonight, so this is the place to go against the grain. The Pirates took two of three from the Phillies over the weekend, giving them a little confidence heading into this one.
