MUST-BET Celtics vs. 76ers NBA Player Props & Betting Picks Today | 2/15/22

The James Harden era in Philadelphia is on hold until at least after the All-Star break, so the 76ers will face a red-hot Celtics team tonight, down a few bodies. The Joel Embiid era is well underway in South Philadelphia as his MVP run continued with a 40-point triple-double Saturday against the Cavaliers. Philadelphia has won two in a row, three of five and seven of their last ten games. They sit atop the Atlantic Division three games ahead of Boston in the loss category. Other than Harden, the 76ers have nobody else on the injury report, including the other player involved in that trade, Paul Millsap.

Boston won their eighth straight game while seeing one of their newest additions in Derrick White play well off the bench. The team is fueled by the tandem of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown looking like one of the league’s top duos every night. The win streak has shot the Celtics up the standings as they can gain ground and tie the 76ers in the win column after defeating them tonight. Backup center and new addition Daniel Theis is expected to make his Celtics debut tonight.

76ers ML: +128 (FanDuel)

The 76ers should be a small favorite at home but the books are putting too much emphasis on them not having Harden. The Celtics winning a bunch of games in a row certainly helps, but the line is only Boston -3 points. The reality is they were playing well without an All-Star body in Ben Simmons. Seth Curry was out there but totally inefficient and Andre Drummond was not needed when the starter was doing things nobody has seen since Wilt Chamberlain. Philadelphia is healthy on the wing and can present some difficult matchups on defense with Matisse Thybulle and Tobias Harris. The Celtics are deeper than the 76ers heading into this game, but they have nothing in the way of slowing down Embiid. The guard matchup, especially Tyrese Maxey vs. Marcus Smart, may do a lot to dictate who wins the game. The 76ers have the advantage and this line should continue to drop, so OddsShopper is the best tool to get constant updates for the best value.

Al Horford Over 0.5 Blocks: -125 (DraftKings)

After choosing this game and sorting by xROI on OddsShopper, this prop is right at the top of the list. It has a fantastic margin between the xROI of 41% and a 78% xWin chance of hitting. The free projection from Awesemo has Al Horford finishing with 1.5 blocks, a full block north of the total. This is a yes/no prop with minimal juice compared to other books that may ask upwards of -150 or higher for just one block. The data and return are a great example of OddsShopper working to get the best value, even on smaller market player props.

Joel Embiid Under 12.5 Rebounds: -112 (BetRivers)

The one area where Boston has somewhat of a chance to limit Embiid would be on the glass. For a man who is a walking double-double each night, Embiid has only gone above this number in seven of his last fifteen games. Horford and Robert Williams III will limit Embiid to a point. OddsShopper has a 65% xWin chance of the prop hitting, along with a 22% xROI. Awesemo’s projection for Embiid has him finishing with 11.4 boards on the night.

Matisse Thybulle Over 1.5 Steals: -120 (DraftKings)

Thybulle is all over the floor and should have a busy night in the passing lanes. He has become one of the best on-the-ball defenders in the league and can get disrupt passes better than Von Miller. Awesemo has Thybulle projected for 2.2 steals, backed up by a 65% xWin chance of the prop hitting. Thanks to OddsShopper the xROI is 25% and the juice is not terrible at DraftKings. Thybulle has had nine total steals over the past two games, including six against the Cavs.

Derrick White 3+ Made 3’s: +230 (FanDuel)

White is still getting his feet under him in Boston but had one strong stat that always stands out for this prop – volume. It took a bunch of shots for him to get to 14 points but he still took ten 3’s. The Celtics have taken the 10th-most 3’s over the past three games, whereas the 76ers are at the bottom of the NBA during that same stretch. This is an area that Boston should target often tonight, especially in the second unit. White still played 29 minutes and shot 14 total times, so he is already a fixed piece in the rotation.
