Yahoo Play of the Day — Kevin Love: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Dallas Mavericks

The Cavaliers are running thin in the frontcourt now that both Jarrett Allen and rookie Evan Mobley are out with injuries. Even if Kevin Love does not land in the starting lineup, he should see 32-34 minutes as Cleveland will need his offense in order to keep pace with Dallas. While it is unlikely that Love reaches 40 fantasy points, he should surpass 30 and at just $16 on Yahoo, he is one of the best point per dollar options on the slate.
Look to Love in this matchup against the Mavericks in the NBA player prop market. Currently, he has a 2.5 over/under on his 3-point prop, and the Awesemo NBA player projections have him for 3.6 made 3-pointers, which gives him a 68% probability of surpassing the over. Over his last nine game, Love has converted at least two 3-point attempts eight times in far fewer minutes than he should see tonight.
Nikola Jokic: Denver Nuggets at Indiana Pacers

There are 22 teams in the player pool tonight, which should easily provide plenty of value options. Nikola Jokic recently moved ahead of Joel Embiid in the NBA MVP race as he looks to secure the award for a second consecutive season. Last night Embiid had a stellar performance with 29 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and a steal, but Philadelphia lost 118-116 to Milwaukee falling for the second time in as many games. Denver has won three of its last four games and Jokic has a far less talented group of teammates than his counterpart.
Tonight the Nuggets will be facing a dilapidated Pacers squad that has given up on the season. They have allowed three straight opponents to score 130 or more points in regulation and simply are not equipped to deal with Jokic. The Serbian big man is in the top 10 for points, rebounds and assists while also leading the league with 19 triple-doubles. Look to Jokic as a core play in all formats tonight.
Houston Rockets vs. Sacramento Kings
After winning three of their last five games and foolishly allowing themselves to be tied with two other teams for the worst record in the league, Houston has magically decided that Christian Wood, Dennis Schroder and Eric Gordon are too injured to play again this season. Rookie Alperen Sengun is also likely to sit out tonight with a leg issue. That means additional opportunities are now available for the remaining ambulatory Rockets. Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green are the priority targets with Jae’Sean Tate looking good on the mid-evening slate. Keep in mind that this is an 11-game slate and Houston will have at least 10 players suited up, so most of the starters will likely cap out around 32-35 minutes. Over their last 10 games, Sacramento is allowing 117.7 points per 100 possessions which is the seventh most in the league.
The Kings have a 5-13 record in their last 18 games and seem to have shut down De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Fox for all intents and purposes. Rookie Davion Mitchell has taken advantage of the extra opportunities and has averaged an eye-popping 42.4 minutes over the last four games. While two of these tilts went into overtime, he is still posting a fantasy point per minute during this stretch as the lead-facilitator with a 24.9% usage rate and a 34.7% assist rate. Harrison Barnes, Try Lyles, Damian Jones and Donte DiVincenzo are viable point per dollar options who can be used as differentiation plays in tournaments.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Atlanta Hawks
The Thunder are yet another team at the bottom of the standings that has packed things up for the season. Tonight their starting five would be lucky to crack to the top eight in most NBA rotations. Isaiah Roby continues to post solid numbers as a starter and Theo Maledon has been effective as the main facilitator now that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and rookie Josh Giddey are on the sidelines. Tre Mann missed the last game with a hamstring issue, though if he is in the starting lineup, he should be ready for his usual 30 to 32 minutes. If he is out, then Vit Krejci can be used on the mid-evening slate as a desperation punt. Aleksej Pokusevski is a neutral option tonight on the main slate as there is a plethora of above average power forwards.
Atlanta is favored by a dozen points as they head into Oklahoma City which is just absurd. We finally saw consecutive 40-fantasy point games from Clint Capela who decided it would be a good idea to actually attempt a few field goals for once. Trae Young should have a field day against the Thunder backups and be in the mix for a 50-fantasy point performance. Danilo Gallinari (elbow) and John Collins (foot) are out and De’Andre Hunter is questionable. If Hunter is out, Kevin Huerter and Onyeka Okongwu would benefit from trickledown minutes. Finally, look to Bogdan Bogdanovic as a mid-tier small forward, though be aware that he seems to have a soft cap in the 30- to 32-minute range as the Hawks look to keep him healthy for the postseason where they will dramatically shorten their rotation during the Play-In Tournament.
