Yahoo NBA DFS Picks Today: Free Fantasy Basketball Rankings 2/7/22

We have a small five-game NBA slate on Monday, Feb. 7 to kick off our NBA DFS picks today. The team with the top implied total is the Phoenix Suns (118.0) who head into Chicago as massive -8.5 favorites. The Bulls lineup is something to keep an eye on as Zach Lavine is listed as a game-time decision and in his absence, DeMar DeRozan has been tearing it up. Jimmy Butler is also listed as a game-time decision for the Heat and would have massive implications for their roster if he sat.

This column will use the Awesemo NBA DFS Projections, daily fantasy basketball rankings and NBA DFS tools to build lineups and help us wade through the days’ data and news. Make sure to read to the end for a couple of extreme value plays too.

Yahoo NBA DFS Picks & Value Plays Today | Feb. 7

Guard — Devin Booker $38

Tonight the Suns will take on the Bulls, who have a couple of injuries at guard to deal with. The Suns are 8.5-point favorites and have the biggest implied total on the slate at 118, so it is certainly a night to be shy about going after Devin Booker. Booker somehow is only the fourth-most expensive player in this game for NBA DFS on Yahoo today, which tells you something about good a fantasy matchup this is for both teams. He has put up a few slower performances of late but has the best value score on Awesemo of the aforementioned top-four players from this game (Booker, Chris Paul, DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic). It can be a guessing game some days with the Suns, but Booker at under $40 looks like a great way to begin lineups at guard today.

Guard — Kyle Lowry $23

Even if Butler does play today, the matchup against Washington is a great one for Kyle Lowry. The point guard is facing a depleted Wizards team without Bradley Beal and his usage today will also be bolstered by the fact that Tyler Herro is unlikely to play (Herro has been downgraded to doubtful for Monday). Lowry is not the same scorer he was in Toronto, but he is up against a team in Washington who ranks just 21st in defensive efficiency, so he could even push for double-double status today with Herro out. He is fifth in the Awesemo Projections at point guard but has the best value score for play on Yahoo of anyone over $20. Lowry’s a good way to save some cash if you are planning to pay up elsewhere.

Forward — O.G. Anunoby $30

The Raptors get a matchup with the Charlotte Hornets, aka the fantasy matchup that keeps on giving. Charlotte ranks fifth-last in defensive efficiency and has ceded the third-most points against this year, and 10th most rebounds against. O.G. Anunoby ranks strongly today at the small forward position with just Jimmy Butler (questionable) ahead of him in the point projections. Anunoby’s point production can be spotty but with a point spread of just -1.5 and a matchup with one of the worst defensive teams in basketball, this is not a spot to be worried about his efficiency or volume. The Toronto starters all continue to play huge minutes and Anunoby is the player with the most palatable salary in DFS.

Forward — Julius Randle $32

Julius Randle was targeted in this article a few days ago and he produced for us in a tasty matchup, producing 32 points and 16 rebounds against the Lakers. Utah would not normally be all that great a spot for a player like Randle, but the Jazz do not have their normal contingent of good interior defenders at their disposal with Rudy Gobert out. Utah ranks just 22nd in defensive efficiency over their last three games and Randle ranks just behind DeRozan in the point projections today at his position, but comes a full $9 cheaper. This is a spot where most people will not be chasing the streaky power forward but Randle’s upside at this price still looks unmatched on this smaller slate. He is a good big field tournament target today.

Center — Bam Adebayo $35

The Heat are again going to be without multiple important players today. Both Herro (doubtful) and Butler (questionable) could sit out this game, in addition to others, and that would open the usage for a player like Bam Adebayo to be off the charts in a solid matchup against Washington. Adebayo has averaged over 50 fantasy points on Yahoo in his last three starts and has been well over a fantasy point per minute player of late. The Wizards rank 10th last in rebounds allowed and have been chewed up by bigs in the middle all season. Adebayo is third in the point projections but has the best value score among the top names at center making him the target at that position today.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Udoka Azubuike $10

Despite the Jazz having Hassan Whiteside (questionable) at center to help with the loss of Gobert, it was Udoka Azubuike who grabbed the start for them the last time out. Azubuike produced nicely in that role, too, producing a double-double in just 23 minutes of action. The center has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in two straight games and will likely be a factor again today for Utah, assuming Rudy Gobert sits again. If both Gobert and Whiteside end up out, expect Azubuike to vault near the top of the Awesemo value projections later in the day.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Ty Jerome $10

Over on the NBA First Look article for today, Matt LaMarca has a nice write-up on Ty Jerome, who has been producing nicely as a distributor with all of the injuries in the backcourt for the Thunder. He has a top-10 value score on the site today and is one of a handful of cheap Thunder players worth looking at on Yahoo for NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball.
