NBA Daily Fantasy Projections & DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel 2/12

This Saturday features a 10-game slate as most teams are off tomorrow due to the Super Bowl. This article features three boom and one bust player tonight which is led by Awesemo’s Awesemo Boom/Bust Tool. Weekend NBA slates normally present a lot of news, especially with so many players swapping teams at the trade deadline. Boom/Bust NBA Daily Fantasy Projections & Picks

Boom: Nikola Jokic: $11,700 DraftKings/$11,300 FanDuel

What is this Nikola Jokic price tag on DraftKings?! Jokic has not been priced below $12,000 on DraftKings since early December. Not only is he not the highest-priced player, but he is not even the highest-priced center. That would belong to Joel Embiid who deserves it but has a much tougher matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jokic has seen a salary dip of $700 on DraftKings despite posting his league-high 15th triple-double last night with 23 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists. The Denver Nuggets lost to the Boston Celtics 108-102 but stay on the road against the Toronto Raptors tonight.

The Nuggets are small underdogs on the road as this total is relatively high at 222.5 points. The Raptors have a very undersized frontcourt which Jokic should exploit. They did pick up Thaddeus Young from the San Antonio Spurs, but no one will be able to slow down Jokic. He continues to lead the league and have a career-high 1.83 DraftKings points per minute. He is a triple-double machine and this salary drop simply does not make any sense. Awesemo projects Jokic to lead the slate in fantasy points on both DraftKings and FanDuel. He is the best pay-up option on the slate.

Boom: Devin Vassell: $4,200 DraftKings/$4,900 FanDuel

16.9% DraftKings Boom/23.9% FanDuel Boom

With Derrick White out of town, the San Antonio Spurs elected to start second-year player Devin Vassell at shooting guard which paid off in a big way. Vassell had 20 points as he shot 9-for-13 from the field while making both of his 3-point attempts. He finished with over 30 DraftKings points for the third time in his last five games. The Spurs did acquire Josh Richardson and Romeo Langford from the Boston Celtics as if they needed more wing players. However, both Richardson and Langford will not be playing tonight, which will solidify the minutes for Vassell.

The Spurs and Pelicans are neck and neck in the Western Conference standings, both on the outside looking into the playoff picture. The Pelicans rank 19th in defensive rating but get torched from the perimeter. They allow opponents to shoot 36.5 percent from behind the arc, which ranks third-highest in the league. Vassell should be able to take advantage of that as he ranks third on the Spurs in 3-point percentage with 35 percent. He has made at least two 3-pointers in three of his last five games. According to Awesemo’s ownership projections, Vassell is coming in as the highest-owned player on DraftKings tonight. He started last night and performed very well. Expect a similar output tonight.

Boom: Facundo Campazzo: $3,000 DraftKings/$3,500 FanDuel

Another Denver Nuggets player who is popping in Awesemo’s Boom/Bust tool is point guard Facundo Campazzo. With Monte Morris in the concussion protocol, the Nuggets started Bones Hyland last night. However, after early foul trouble and poor play, it was Campazzo who closed out the game and played 29 minutes. He filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. Campazzo finished with 28 DraftKings points while he is still priced at the minimum on both DraftKings and FanDuel tonight making him a great value play.

This is a situation where we definitely need to monitor the starting lineup to see which route the Nuggets plan to go at point guard tonight. Both Campazzo and Hyland will be great plays with Morris out yet again. They are both far too cheap for their minutes upside, especially in what should be a very competitive and close game. Awesemo projects Campazzo with more minutes than Hyland and he is coming in as the best value play on the slate for DraftKings. Also keep an eye on Awesemo’s ownership projections for both of these Nuggets guards. Right now it looks as if Campazzo is pretty popular, which should lead him to your cash builds. Hyland would be better in tournaments, especially if he continues to start.

Bust: Kyrie Irving: $10,200 DraftKings/$10,200 FanDuel

The Brooklyn Nets are falling fast as they have lost 10 straight games and are now double-digit road underdogs against the Miami Heat. James Harden left town and Kevin Durant is still not healthy enough to play. The Nets will be led by Kyrie Irving as they try and keep this game competitive on the road. They are only implied for 105.25 points tonight as they face an extremely strong defensive team. The Heat rank sixth in defensive rating, allowing only 104.2 points per game. They also play at the fourth-slowest pace in the league. The Nets have a difficult task tonight.

Irving does see an increase without Harden and Durant on the floor this season. He has a team-high 32.9 percent usage rate. In nine of his last 10 games that Irving has played, he has had 20 or more field goal attempts. It is unlikely that Ben Simmons, Andre Drummond, and Seth Curry play tonight. Irving with be on an island yet again. Irving still sits at a salary where there are a plethora of players and even guards around him that look much better. There is no sense in forcing Irving into lineups at this steep of a price tag in this very tough matchup.
