PG Darius Garland — Grades: B, B | Values: B, C

Darius Garland has been sidelined for four of his last six games due to back soreness but went through a full practice yesterday and should be good to go for tonight. Garland has seen a significant price decrease on both sites, but especially DraftKings. He has dropped $1,000 in less than a week. Garland continues to lead the Cavaliers in points, assists and steals this season. He has struggled recently due to the injury, but the salary takes that into account. One month ago Garland had four-straight games scoring over 50 DraftKings points. The upside is still there.

This matchup against the Hawks is projected to be the closest on the slate with the Cavaliers favored by one point on the road. The Hawks have lost four of their last five games and rank 27th in defensive rating. They really struggle against opposing guards as they allow the fifth-most assists and sixth-highest 3-point percentage per game. Our ownership projections are pretty spread out for this slate, however, Garland is drawing the third-most ownership on DraftKings and leads the slate for anyone priced over $5,500. PG Kyle Lowry — Grades: B, B | Values: B, A

Another point guard that is in a great spot due to his cheap price tag is Kyle Lowry. The Heat will be playing without Tyler Herro, while Jimmy Butler is listed as questionable. They are favored by 3.5 points at home against the Mavericks, led by their star Luka Doncic, who is on an absolute tear. Do not go too crazy with this game as the total is only 209 points, which is the lowest on the slate. The Mavericks play at the slowest pace in the league while they also rank fifth in defensive rating, allowing only 103.1 points per game, ranking second-best.

Despite the difficult matchup, Awesemo’s NBA projections have Lowry to be the best value play on FanDuel tonight. Lowry has been a little inconsistent, but he has shown upside. He recorded a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists two games ago. His price has come down on DraftKings since then. According to Awesemo’s Boom/Bust Tool, Lowry has the highest boom percentage on FanDuel and the second-highest on DraftKings. This is a situation where Lowry already looks like a great play, but if Butler sits tonight, he will be the best play on the slate. C Karl-Anthony Towns — Grades: A, A | Values: C, C

Now to a game where there is a much higher total. This matchup between the Timberwolves and Hornets features the highest total on the slate by a wide margin with an absurd 244 points. Karl-Anthony Towns is the most expensive player in this game, but he provides a lot of upside in this matchup. The Hornets rank 24th in defensive rating and first in pace this season. They rank 29th in rebounding percentage, allowing 47.6 rebounds per game. They also gave up 72 points in the paint in their most recent game. Towns should feast in the paint and has a good chance at another double-double.

Towns got into foul trouble last game as he played a season-low 22 minutes. He still finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds, but it was the first time in his last 13 games in which he did not score over 40 DraftKings points. This is the first season in which Towns has averaged below double-digit rebounds. While that is concerning, this matchup should mitigate that concern, as the Hornets play so fast, and there will be plenty of rebound opportunities in this game. Getting exposure in this game is necessary tonight and starting with Towns is a great way to go given the upside of the matchup.

PF Nicolas Batum — Grades: D, D | Values: A, A

Nicolas Batum is arguably the best value play on the slate as he is extremely cheap on both sites. The Clippers are playing without newly acquired Norman Powell as they have won back-to-back games against the Warriors and Mavericks. Those two games prove the boom or bust play that Batum can be. In their victory over the Mavericks, Batum played 20 minutes and had two DraftKings points. However, in his most recent game against the Warriors, he played 29 minutes and finished with 31.5 DraftKings points, as he had 15 points and eight rebounds. Which Batum will show up?

Awesemo’s NBA projections have Batum as being the best value on DraftKings and the second-best on FanDuel tonight. The Clippers are 13-point underdogs against the best team in the league, the Phoenix Suns. The Suns are 46-10 this season and rank fourth in defensive rating. They are coming off of back-to-back blowout victories as they try to make it three-straight. These two teams have split during the regular season so far. Taking a value play like Batum mitigates the risk of a blowout. There may be more value that opens up throughout the day, but Batum is the best one on the board right now.
