PrizePicks NBA Player Props | Feb. 16
Eric Gordon Under 11.5 Points
This is the industry-consensus line — PrizePicks isn’t getting aggressive or anything — but this seems awfully high. Sure, Gordon is averaging 13 points a game this season, but all but one of his 48 games this season had him on a Rockets team chock full of raw, inexperienced players. Now he is on a Clippers team that at least has hopes (however slim they may be) of contending this season.
Gordon only scored 7 in his lone game with his new team, and this matchup with Phoenix is projecting as a poor offensive environment, as evidenced by a total ranging from 222.5 to 223.5. Six players on the Clippers are projecting for more points than Gordon tonight as the Clippers play the Suns, with Gordon getting just 8.3 in Stokastic’s projections. And that is not simply a matter of Gordon being with a new team — Another deadline acquisition in Bones Hyland projects for 10.6 points in fewer minutes.
Stokastic simply does not like the situation for Gordon to score tonight. There is little working in the favor of anyone playing in this game with regard to offensive stats — even Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are projecting on the lower end tonight. Eventually Gordon may work himself into a similar role to the one he had in Houston, but tonight is not that night. Stokastic’s PrizePicks NBA player props tool gives him a 75% chance of staying under.

Zach LaVine Under 5.5 Rebounds
LaVine had one of his best games of the season on the glass last night, grabbing 11 rebounds for the depleted Bulls. However, despite Chicago still potentially missing DeMar DeRozan and Derrick Jones Jr., Stokastic is expecting regression for LaVine. He has gone for six or more rebounds just 18 times in 54 games (33.3%), and tonight he gets a Milwaukee team that ranks second in the NBA in rebound rate. As such, Stokastic is only projecting LaVine for 4.8 rebounds.
And that projection is not being repressed by the possibility of DeRozan playing — the model is treating the Bulls stats as if DeRozan and Alex Caruso are out tonight. Rather, this is about LaVine coming back to earth after a huge game and taking on a team with several strong perimeter rebounders. That regression should also be coming Nikola Vucevic in the opposite direction, as he recorded only seven rebounds last night but projects for over 12 on Thursday.
Keep an eye on Jones’ status, as he the model projects him as playing, and LaVine’s projection could get a slight boost if he switches to out. But for now, LaVine has a 66% chance of staying under 5.5 in Stokastic’s PrizePicks NBA player props tool.
Edit: Jones, Caruso and DeRozan all out.Â
