Using Stokastic’s NBA DFS projections, let’s break down the player pool to try and find the best NBA DFS high-priced studs, including Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle, ahead of Tuesday night’s main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.
We have an eight-game slate tonight with very limited value. As a result, it is difficult to prioritize paying up for any of the most expensive players. Currently, none of the 12 most expensive players on DraftKings are projected to be more than six percent owned. Only one of the nine most expensive players on FanDuel is projected for double-digit ownership (Domantas Sabonis at 13 percent because he has power forward eligibility). As a result, I am going to focus on the most expensive players that are garnering ownership tonight instead of writing about a bunch of players that look nearly impossible to roster with any frequency.

NBA DFS Studs: Anthony Edwards & Julius Randle
Stud No. 1 – Anthony Edwards: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Oklahoma City Thunder
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $8,900 / FanDuel: $9,300
- Stokastic’s Point Projections: DraftKings: 46.9 / FanDuel: 45.3
- Stokastic’s Ownership Projections: DraftKings: 17.2% / FanDuel: 12.5%
Anthony Edwards no longer has small forward eligibility on DraftKings, but he still looks like a strong play tonight against Oklahoma City. He has produced 1.27 DraftKings points per minute in 35.6 minutes per game so far this season. The Thunder have been a strong team defensively, and have a lockdown wing defender in Lu Dort, but Oklahoma City has also played at a top 10 pace this season. While Edwards could see a decrease in efficiency, it will hopefully be washed out by the extra possessions.
Stud No. 2 – Julius Randle: New York Knicks vs Charlotte Hornets
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $8,700 / FanDuel: $8,200
- Stokastic’s Point Projections: DraftKings: 43.3 / FanDuel: 41.3
- Stokastic’s Ownership Projections: DraftKings: 10.8% / FanDuel: 23.7%
Julius Randle has an excellent matchup tonight against the Hornets. Charlotte has played at the league’s sixth-fastest pace this season and, while the absence of LaMelo Ball could slow them down a bit, they have also allowed the most points per 100 possessions. Randle has averaged 1.18 DraftKings points per minute in 34.8 minutes per game this season. He is a strong play on DraftKings and an even bigger priority on FanDuel at $500 less.
Out of curiosity, we did a side-by-side NBA DFS comparison of Edwards and Randle using Stokastic’s FREE Player Compare tool. Here are the results on DraftKings:
Stud No. 3 – Alperen Sengun: Houston Rockets at Dallas Mavericks
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $8,500 / FanDuel: $8,400
- Stokastic’s Point Projections: DraftKings: 46.9 / FanDuel: 46.1
- Stokastic’s Ownership Projections: DraftKings: 24.3% / FanDuel: 36.6%
Alperen Sengun looks like one of the best center options tonight for several reasons. First, he has produced 1.31 DraftKings points per minute in 32.8 minute per game this season. Second, he has a favorable matchup against the Mavericks. Dallas ranks 7th in pace and 25th in defensive rating this season so they offer a significant pace-up spot for the Rockets in addition to being an inefficient defensive team.
Third, this game has substantial In-Season tournament ramifications for Houston. Based on their last game, it appears that they are prioritizing the tournament as four of their five starters played at least 36 minutes with Sengun leading the way at 42.8 minutes. We can’t expect that level of playing time again tonight, but it is nice to know that it is on the table and, barring foul trouble or injury, they would probably like Sengun to play more minutes than his season average.
