NFL DFS Stacks Week 18: Eagles Should Soar Once Again

The Week 18 slate is always one of the weirdest. Teams all have different motivating factors. Several squads may even prefer to lose and improve their draft selection come April. The late-season chaos makes identifying NFL DFS Stacks all the more difficult.

Some spots to watch this week will be in Philadelphia, where Jalen Hurts is listed as questionable but is expected to play. We also have to watch whether teams like Minnesota, Tampa Bay and the LA Chargers decide to give their starters any run. As of now, the Chargers and Vikings have been planning on playing their starters but that could change quickly as game time approaches. The 49ers sit with the biggest implied team total set at 26.25 as of writing with the Bills sitting a solid second in that category at 25.25.

With all these personnel decisions affecting decisions this week, this article will again rely on Stokastic’s Top NFL DFS Stacks Tool to identify strong spots. Using the tool, this article will identify both the top teams in the overall projections and the lower-owned teams that may make for sharp contrarian pivots in larger fields. Let’s dive in to find the top opportunities for Week 18 based on where they stand in Stokastic’s NFL DFS ownership projections.

Top Overall Week 18 DFS Stack: Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles look likely to be getting Jalen Hurts back for this game. The signal-caller is questionable as of writing but is expected to play in what is a huge game for the Eagles, who need a win to secure the number one seed and the NFC East. Hurts and the Eagles have a 14% top stack probability this week on Stokastic, which is only a few points higher than both the Bills and Bengals. One advantage the Eagles will have is that the Giants intend to play their backups, making this a great matchup for everyone in Philadelphia’s offense.

A.J. Brown came down with a long touchdown last week and certainly is in a good spot to find the end zone again this week. While Miles Sanders did a lot of the heavy lifting for the Eagles in their first meeting with the Giants, Brown came down with four catches, 70 yards and a score in that game. He has caught four touchdowns in his last three games with Hurts.

For NFL DFS players considering a triple stack — a fair move considering the Eagles are -14.0 point favorites, Dallas Goedert is also in a very interesting upside spot. Goedert will play with Hurts for the first time since he returned to the field in Week 15 and takes on a Giants defense that has allowed two touchdowns to an opposing tight end in two of their last four games. Goedert has played over 90% of the snaps in each of his last two starts and has a reasonable ownership projection below 10% on Stokastic as of Saturday.

Top Low-Owned Week 17 NFL DFS Stack: Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are an interesting contrarian stack this week. They still have something to play for given that a loss to the Ravens could mean they lose home-field advantage if these two teams meet later in the season, a function of the new NFL rules following the cancelation of their game last week.

NFL DFS players will likely stay away from this game. The expectation around the industry is that Baltimore’s offense will struggle, as this game has just a 39.5-point total attached to it. Ownership of Joe Burrow — who has thrown for multiple touchdowns in four-straight games — will likely be low. He is projected to be the fifth-highest rostered quarterback on the slate, but it wouldn’t be shocking if he fell under his 7.1% ownership projection, either.

A Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase stack will have some ownership attached to it, obviously, as Chase is the highest projected wideout on the slate. But using Baltimore’s J.K. Dobbins as a comeback play on the other side (2.1% ownership projection) makes the stack unique. Dobbins has averaged 6.59 yards per rush over his last three games, and a big game by him would likely push Burrow and Chase to pick up even more yards this week.

Top Tournament Leverage Week 18 NFL DFS Stack: Denver Broncos

If you want a truly lower-owned stack that provides leverage off a higher-owned D/ST, the Broncos should be on your radar. With the Chargers’ motivation for playing starters in this game shrinking by the second, Russell Wilson may face a bunch of backups in the second half.

Wilson rushed for two touchdowns last week. He also tossed a score to Albert Okwuegbunam, who had fallen out of favor with now-fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett. This could also be a spot to potentially see Courtland Sutton find the end zone again, as the big receiver has caught four or more passes in each of his last two games after returning from injury.

NFL DFS players should base their approach to this game around the news coming out of Los Angeles. If they were to play their starters, the Chargers may even become an interesting team to target — players like Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen could make for great comeback plays in a Denver stack.

The Broncos should play to win this game since they don’t have any early draft picks this season. With how cheap Wilson and his receivers are, mixing in a couple of Broncos stacks into GPP builds this week has its merits. Despite the terrible season, this wacky final slate does have Denver with a top-10 top stack probability on Stokastic, which is enough to warrant some exposure in large-field GPPs.
