Russell Westbrook Under 18.5 Points (-112, BetRivers)

Tonight’s NBA player props total of 18.5 points actually matches Russell Westbrook‘s per-game average this season exactly. Given how rough things have been for the Los Angeles Lakers guard lately, this is honestly rather surprising. While Westbrook has notched double-digit point totals in six straight contests after a three-game stretch in which he scored fewer than 10, he has still been held to 15 or less in three of the last five games. Things got so bad in terms of his plus/minus rating that coach Frank Vogel benched Westbrook down the stretch in a close game last week. Needless to say, it has been a rocky first season in L.A. for the single-season triple-double record holder.

Tonight, possessions could be smaller in number for the Lakers as they face a Philadelphia 76ers team that ranks among the slowest teams in the NBA in terms of pace. In addition, the return of Anthony Davis figures to ultimately eat into Westbrook’s usage rate and shot attempts. All of this leads Awesemo to produce a projection of only 14.20 points for Westbrook this evening. Given the massive disparity between this prediction and the NBA betting line, it is no surprise to see a massive win probability (75%) and expected ROI (43%) for this prop bet tonight.

Anthony Edwards Under 22.5 Points (-112, FanDuel)

After dropping 40 points on Tuesday and apparently feeling the need to call himself “Black Jesus,” Anthony Edwards is in a difficult scenario if he hopes to replicate that performance tonight. Even after the outburst, the second-year Minnesota Timberwolves wing is still averaging 22.7 points per game. While he surpassed that mark in each of the last two games, Edwards fell short of it in each of the three matchups prior. Furthermore, the last two games came against a shorthanded Brooklyn Nets outfit and a Portland Trail Blazers team that arguably has the worst defense in the Association. Even without the services of Draymond Green, tonight’s opponent, the Golden State Warriors, offer a much more difficult defense to solve.

Given that the Warriors come into Thursday’s contest allowing only 100.0 points per 100 possessions, the best defensive efficiency mark in the NBA, it is reasonable to expect Edwards to finish below his scoring average. OddsShopper shows that there is a discrepancy in the NBA player props market on his scoring total, with one sportsbook listing the line a full point lower than the rest at 21.5. Awesemo’s projection of 19.65 points sits comfortably below both the varied number and the consensus line of 22.5. At optimal -112 odds, bettors can score a nice ROI of 19%.

Jaylen Nowell Over 2.5 Assists (+100, DraftKings)

With Patrick Beverley looking highly unlikely to play tonight for the Timberwolves, bettors would be wise to explore playing over the NBA player props total of 2.5 assists for point guard, Jaylen Nowell. The 22-year-old has already shown that he is capable of dishing out multiple assists in limited minutes. Despite only playing 20 minutes in Minnesota’s win on Tuesday night, Nowell finished with four assists. He has now dished out at least three assists in seven of his last eight games where he has seen any kind of significant playing time.

Despite Nowell’s success and the bleak status for Beverley heading into tonight’s matchup, OddsShopper shows that bettors can obtain a +100 price on Nowell to surpass 2.5 assists. Awesemo has the former Washington Huskies standout pegged for 3.01 assists in this game. Given the injury status and his recent contributions, there is no reason to believe that Nowell will be stuck riding the pine for the entirety of tonight’s contest. With the added return thanks to the even-money odds, this over prediction is given an 18% ROI.
