With the NFL and NBA in full swing, the Millionaire Maker for PGA DFS is on the back-burner, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t life changing amounts of money to be won and interesting PGA DFS picks to be made. This week, the tour heads to Oahu and one of a few courses on tour that has the ocean as its backdrop. There will be 144 players teeing it up, so we’ll have plenty of options with which to go against the grain in DraftKings PGA and FanDuel PGA contests.

PGA DFS Picks: $9,000+
- 11 Golfers
- Total ownership of around 180%
With the field expanding to 144 golfers this week, DraftKings gave us an additional player above $9,000. The ownership remains largely the same, coming in around 180% in total for the 11 golfers. The highest-owned golfer none other than Harris English, one of the hottest players in the game right now. Daniel Berger, Cameron Smith, Abraham Ancer and Ryan Palmer all look like they are going to be over 20% this week. Sungjae Im has been talked up quite a bit, so I suspect he will also be close to 20% owned. This should leave opportunities to get golfers under 15% and maybe one or two chances at golfers under 10%.
Collin Morikawa finds himself in the lower-owned category for the second straight week, something that has been beneficial to results over his short PGA Tour career for those that play him and stick with him. Hideki Matsuyama’s putter has gotten worse since we last saw him, or at least it looked that way last week out on Kapalua. Until that turns, I don’t think I can pay $10,000 for him, but at 10% projected ownership it at least intrigues me.
Joaquin Niemann got a huge price bump to the tune of $2,000 over last week’s price. This has him coming in with lower ownership at around 14%. The last golfer in this range is Adam Scott, who projects to be around 12% owned. Similar to Matsuyama, Scott needs some semblance of a putting stroke before he contends again, but at least he’s $1,000 cheaper than Matsuyama.

Morikawa seems like an easy spot to get overweight with 25%, which is my normal amount. He projects to be around three times the field. I’ll take a lower-owned Scott over Matsuyama if I want to continue to diversify up here.

PGA DFS Picks: Nos. 12-33 Priced Golfers ($7,500-$8,900)
- 20 Golfers
- Total ownership 210%
A full field of 144 golfers doesn’t change the number of what we consider the “value” range on DraftKings. We have 20 golfers to choose from, with a total of 200% ownership among them. The average of 10 doesn’t actually have that much of a standard deviation, with the lowest projected golfer being Eric van Rooyen at 2% and Kevin Kisner at 17% being the highest. Typically we’ll see at least one if not two golfers projected over 20% from this range.
While there aren’t any golfers projected to be owned over 20%, there are plenty that are projected around 12-15%. Billy Horschel, Russell Henley, Zach Johnson, Brendon Todd, Lanto Griffin, Emiliano Grillo, Lanto Griffin, Brian Harman and Carlos Ortiz are all projected in this range.
With 20 golfers in this range, and 11 already mentioned, another nine golfers should be at or under 10% owned. Matt Kuchar, Marc Leishman, Talor Gooch and Mackenzie Hughes are all solidly under 10% owned this week. Charles Howell, Jason Kokrak, Patton Kizzire, Si Woo Kim, Kevin Na, Keegan Bradley and Sebastian Munoz are all in the 8-10% projection range.

If you are looking to pick up some variance in this range, my PGA DFS picks are Kuchar, van Rooyen, Gooch, Leishman and Hughes in that order. If not, I’m not scared off any of these golfers given their projected ownership. Even Kisner at 17% doesn’t seem all that bad.
PGA DFS Picks: The Rest ($7,400 and Below)
- 111 golfers
- Total ownership 210%
Out of the 111 names in this section, with over 210% ownership allocated among them, I really didn’t expect Scott Piercy and Anirban Lahiri to be the only two golfers projected with more than 10% ownership, but here we are. There are 10 golfers projected between 5 and 10% this week. A few names that I like this week are:
- Cameron Davis
- Tom Hoge
Still, with plenty of quality golfers left to pick from, most of them under 5% owned, we can find value with one of:
- J.T. Poston
- Takumi Kanaya
- Doug Ghim
- Richy Werenski
- Hudson Swafford
- Kyle Stanley
- Will Gordon
- Luke List

I suspect at least one of these guys will end up in the optimal lineup. If not, it’ll likely be a split pot. My top two plays out of them will be Stewart Cink and Andrew Landry.
