Yahoo Fantasy Basketball Picks & NBA DFS Value Plays Today | 2/12/22

We have a 10-game NBA slate today that starts at 7:00pm est. There’s a monster point total attached to the Memphis-Charlotte game as of writing, which sits with a 239.5 over/under. That will likely be a popular stacking target for many people in their Yahoo fantasy basketball lineups today. We also have our usual list of injury and rest spots to monitor with the Lakers stars undoubtedly having the most impact on this slate. Lebron James has looked good of late but seems legitimately questionable for today’s game against the Warriors. If he sits, the game could develop into a blowout fast and affect the fantasy potential of the Warriors too. Darius Garland and Norm Powell are two other names to note today who set up as game-time decisions.

This column will use the Awesemo NBA DFS Projections, daily fantasy basketball rankings and NBA DFS tools to build lineups and help wade through the days’ data and news. Make sure to read to the end for a couple of extreme value plays for Yahoo fantasy basketball lineups today.

Yahoo Fantasy Basketball & NBA DFS Value Picks Today

Guard — Dejounte Murray $47

The Spurs Dejounte Murray is coming off a monster triple-double performance where he posted 77.0 Yahoo fantasy basketball points. Despite that recent outburst, he’s actually $7 cheaper on this slate than Luka Doncic, who has been lighting it up on a nightly basis as well. You could make a case for either player to be your cornerstone today but we have a big slate and likely want to save as much cash as possible for studs at other positions. Murray has the better value score on Awesemo (by a wide margin) over Doncic and trails him by less than 2.0 points in the overall  projections. The decision is made easier by Murray’s own consistency too which has seen him go for over 54.0 Yahoo fantasy points in four of his last five games. Murray’s a great way to begin lineups and still leaves you room to go after other big names.

Dejounte Murray is one of the clear-cut top plays in Yahoo fantasy basketball lineups today, which the Awesemo NBA optimizer identified quickly. Check out the Yahoo NBA DFS Cheat Sheet for more free fantasy basketball picks tonight.

Guard — Terry Rozier $28

To save some cash at guard, it’s certainly OK to eat some chalk today and go after the likely to be popular Terry Rozier. Rozier projects with an over 20% rostership projection for today but he’s also ranked fifth in the overall point projections, despite being available for well under $30. The shooting guard is a lot more volatile than Murray but he’s also coming off a triple-double and will be involved in a game which has the largest point total on the slate by a wide margin. Charlotte has a 115-point implied team total today and Rozier projects as one of the top value plays in the upper tier at his position making him near impossible to ignore on this slate.

Forward — Brandon Ingram $34

Some more upper tier value to target can be had on the Pelicans roster who take on the Spurs today, a team rank bottom-10 in the league in terms of points and rebounds allowed. Brandon Ingram is coming off a terrible fantasy performance (which could help keep his rostership levels down) but has proven upside against teams like San Antonio. Ingram’s broken out for over 40.0 Yahoo points six times now in his last 10-games and could easily outproduce in many categories today, including rebounding where the Spurs really struggle and rank third-last in the league. Scoring is Ingram’s bread and butter but don’t be shocked if shows up and perhaps even pushes for a double-double, his projections have as the third-best option at Small Forward but also as a far better overall value than the top two choices.

Forward — Kyle Kuzma $30

I like sticking in this range for Power Forward too as it’s a deep position today and there’s lots of ceiling p[potential with the names in this range. Kyle Kuzma has developed into one of the most consistent fantasy producers in basketball this year thanks to his heightened usage on a Wizards team that has been without Bradley Beal for long stretches. Like two of our first three selections, Kuzma is also coming off a triple-double game (the first of his career) and has posted 39.0 or more Yahoo fantasy basketball points now in four of his last six starts. Like Ingram above, Kuzma just sets up as a nice ceiling target at this price range given the opponent on tap today in the Kings. Sacramento ranks second last in points allowed but also bottom-10 in rebounds allowed as well. Kuzma’s cheap, ranks in the top-five at his position in the Awesemo projections and likely will push for at least a double-double today in a very plus matchup.

Center — Joel Embiid $53

I mentioned paying up at multiple spots today and center is certainly a position where going big will likely give you a big edge. Joel Embiid may rank second today in the Awesemo Projections but he trails Nikola Jokic by less than 2.0 points and has the much better value score. The 76ers will still be without James Harden for at least this weekend meaning Embiid’s recent run is likely to continue today, He’s posted over 55.0 Yahoo fantasy basketball points in five straight games now and with his sites set on an MVP award, he’s not likely to step off the gas against a Cleveland team who is scrappy enough to make this game close and keep Embiid on the floor for 34-plus minutes. Like Murray at Point Guard, Embiid’s consistency is something we should be fine spending for and there’s good value to had elsewhere to help out cause.

Center — Deandre Ayton $25

If you are intent on paying down at center, or just want a good flex option, than looking at the Suns Deandre Ayton today is a solid idea. Ayton has a great chance of dominating against a Magic team who is weak in the middle and ranks just 18th in opposing FG% and 23rd in rebounds allowed. Targeting the Suns big three can be a guessing game but Ayton’s certainly got the proven upside to make him a good GPP target at this price and with this good a matchup. He’s got the best value score today of anyone priced under $30 on the slate.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Jaxson Hayes $14

For our value play we’ll again go back to the forward position, which is loaded with opportunity. Like the rest of the Pelicans, Jaxson Hayes has a great matchup against a thin Spurs squad who gives up plenty of rebounds and quality shot opportunities. Hayes is coming off a poor game but there’s no reason to think he won’t again see 20-plus minutes of floor in this game, which has been his norm. Hayes has the best value score at power-forward today and it’s likely we will see his rostership stay under 10%. He’s a heady value pick that could outperform his salary in this spot by big multiples.
