What does stacking mean in NFL DFS? It refers to pairing a quarterback with one or more of his pass catchers to maximize upside in daily fantasy football contests on DraftKings and FanDuel. NFL DFS Week 4 Team Stackability Ratings on DraftKings & FanDuel

First things first: below is a short legend overviewing the data points that are included throughout, all of which can be found on Stokastic’s best NFL DFS stacks page for DraftKings and FanDuel.

Top Stack: The probability that the QB + receiver combo will be the highest scoring of the week (averaged the probabilities for top-scoring with one receiver and two receivers together).

QB Own: Projected ownership of starting quarterback for the given team.

Avg Sal: Average salary of skill position players weighted for ownership.

Top Value: Top stack % points per dollar of salary spent.

Rush %: How often the team is expected to rush on any given play during the game. A lower Rush % means the quarterback will be throwing more often!

Overall Rating: Stokastic’s rating of the quality of the stack, taking into consideration key variables like top stack probability, top value probability, and ownership.

Week 4 NFL DFS Team Stackability Ratings – Sunday Update #1

Inactives for Sunday are coming in, and Stokastic’s NFL player projections and team stackability ratings for Week 4 have been updated.

As of 11:45 AM ET:

DraftKings: The Chargers have the top overall rating at 28 and are followed by the Rams (23), Bills (20), Steelers (18) and 49ers (16). The overall rating is a metric that blends key variables like top stack probability, top value probability, and projected DFS ownership.

FanDuel: The Rams are at the top in overall rating at 31, while the Chargers (20), Steelers (18), Ravens (16) and 49ers/Eagles/Texans (15) are near the front as well.

Week 4 NFL DFS Top Team Stack: Los Angeles Chargers

Looking at the best NFL DFS team stacks for Week 4, the Chargers are currently listed atop the DraftKings slate in top stack probability, top value probability and overall rating. Justin Herbert has been incredibly effective so far in 2023, with Keenan Allen the main beneficiary in the passing game, and the pair will look to keep the good times rolling in this weekend’s game against the Raiders.

In terms of projected ownership. Allen will be particularly popular in NFL DFS lineups for Week 4 — as of now he’s down for 22.7% ownership on DraftKings and 16.6% on FanDuel. Mike Williams suffered a serious injury last week, which means other wideouts including Joshua Palmer (10.3% target share) and Quentin Johnston (7.1% target share) should get more opportunities to contribute going forward. At $4,000 and $3,700 respectively on DraftKings, the two are gaining some steam in ownership projections as well.

Week 4 NFL DFS Top Team Stack: Buffalo Bills

Make that two consecutive dominant weeks from the Buffalo Bills. After a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Jets, Josh Allen and the Bills have responded in great fashion, easily dispatching Las Vegas (38-10) and Washington (37-3) in Weeks 2 and 3.

For Week 4, Buffalo welcomes a high-flying Miami team that just dropped 70 points on the Broncos, and this game has the highest over/under of the week at 53.5 points. The Bills are favored by a field goal on their home turf and have the third-highest top stack probability on DraftKings for Sunday, behind only the Chargers and Vikings. Stefon Diggs, who has a boom probability north of 16% in this matchup, has been as reliable as ever and is the obvious pairing candidate with Allen, and the cheaper pieces such as Gabe Davis (81% snap rate) are also worth consideration.

Other Week 4 NFL DFS Team Stacks to Consider

While the top stack probabilities and overall ratings are useful in their own right, having additional data points like projected QB ownership, top value probabilities and expected rush percentages for every team included all on one page is handy when doing prep.

Ahead of NFL Week 4, here are a couple of other team stacks to consider for your NFL DFS lineups:

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are implied for more points than any other team on the Week 4 slate (29), so naturally they are an intriguing team to target with stacks as well. They have been excellent to start 2023, beating the Steelers (30-7), Rams (30-23) and Giants (30-12) ahead of Week 4’s date with the Cardinals. For Sunday they come in favored by two touchdowns on the NFL odds board.

Brock Purdy has been efficient through the first few weeks, completing 61 of 91 passes for 736 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions, while Christian McCaffrey has already racked up 423 yards from scrimmage and Brandon Aiyuk (27.9% target share) and George Kittle (20.9% target share) have made an impact too. It will be important to track the status of Deebo Samuel (31.3% target share), who is currently listed as questionable to play. If he is ruled out, that could shift the Week 4 NFL DFS data in a major way.

Minnesota Vikings

At time of writing, the Vikings have the second-highest top stack probability on DraftKings and the fifth-best mark on FanDuel. Kirk Cousins has not managed to lead his team to a win yet this season, but has put up more than serviceable numbers on an individual level. He already has 1,075 passing yards to go with nine touchdowns and two interceptions across three games, while star receiver Justin Jefferson has amassed 458 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Minnesota continues to be a fun team to stack for DFS purposes considering how pass-heavy the offense has been and all the talented pass catchers at various salary ranges that can be mixed into NFL DFS lineups in Jefferson, T.J. Hockenson, Jordan Addison and K.J. Osborn. The Vikings are implied for 25 points in Week 4’s road game against the Panthers, another winless team.

It should also be noted Matthew Stafford, Puka Nacua and the Los Angeles Rams are grading out nicely in the Week 4 top stacks tool as well. The Rams currently have the top overall rating and top value rating on FanDuel, while being in the second spot in overall rating over on DraftKings.

Remember that the data could change as more news is released and we get closer to kickoff. As usual, Stokastic will be tracking all slate-relevant injury updates and will be tweaking NFL player projections up until lock.
