Stokastic Pros Rake In Over $200K From MLB DFS Wins on Tuesday | How They Built Their Lineups

It was a huge day for Stokastic pros last night, as two of our own won massive DraftKings MLB DFS contests (plus a few other wins in smaller contests) to combine for over $200,000 in winnings. On Tuesday, Steve “dacoltz” Buzzard and Adam “ShipMyMoney” Scherer both took home over $100,000 apiece, with Steve taking down the DraftKings MLB $500K MEGA Immaculate Inning contest and Adam winning DraftKings’ MLB $300K Relay Throw.

With the help of Stokastic’s MLB DFS projections and new MLB Sims Tool, Adam and Steve were able to find the players with the highest ROIs based on how the contest shook out. Stokastic Pros Take Home Over $200K From MLB DFS Wins

Let’s take a look at the two $100,000-winning DraftKings lineups.

Steve “dacoltz” Buzzard

Starting with Steve’s big win, he went heavy on the Mets, opting for the five-man stack and throwing in Justin Verlander as his SP1 for good measure. The only whiff in this stack was Brett Baty, who went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo all offered strong returns on a fairly contrarian stack. Meanwhile, Verlander turned in one of his better outings of the season, only allowing a couple hits while striking out six and picking up the win.

Steve went a little against the grain with his SP2 in Aaron Civale, who was rostered in 17.2% of lineups, as opposed to the much chalkier Alex Cobb at 30.9%. Steve used Cobb in his lineups that placed ninth and 10th in this contest. And while Cobb scored a few more fantasy points than Civale, the latter still turned in a strong enough performance to keep Steve in front of the second-place roster, which opted for the less-successful Red Sox stack and Pablo Lopez in SP2 — Lopez scored 2.35 less points than Verlander.

Steve’s Seattle pairing of Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez also came up roses, and the contrarian one-off of J.D. Martinez knocked one out of the park to finish off Steve’s winning lineup and give him first place by 4.65 fantasy points.

Adam “ShipMyMoney” Scherer

While Steve opted for a Seattle two-man sub-stack, Adam leaned fully into the Mariners last night and used the highest-scoring Mets for his pairing. Nailing Alonso and Lindor was a big hit for Adam, and his primary five-man stack was solid as well. Only Rodriguez and Cade Marlowe really popped off, but Marlowe’s 0.8% ownership automatically made this Mariners stack super contrarian and two of the other three pieces hit double-digit fantasy points. For the record, the second-place lineup (which trailed by over 8 points) went with the Mets four-man stack.

Adam’s one-off in Ketel Marte was perfectly adequate, as he recorded a triple and a run on two hits, and Adam could afford to go chalk with Cobb at SP2 due to the contrarian hitters. He also nailed young Andrew Abbott with his SP1, a choice only one other person in the top 10 made, and Abbott ended up being one of the highest-scoring pitchers on the slate.

All told, both Adam and Steve made quality stacking choices and filled in the gaps with high-scoring one-offs and pairings. And as is always the case with Stokastic pros, they made the most of their lineups last night with the help of Stokastic’s elite MLB DFS projections, ownership projections and MLB Sims Tool. These tools allowed them to differentiate between the good and bad chalk while also pinpointing the leverage points with their hitters.
