NBA Player Props for Tonight: Jonas Valanciunas Betting Pick & Predictions | 5/26/21

Welcome to Wednesday’s edition of our best NBA player props. There are three more playoff games on tap for this evening, with Game 2 between the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks arguably being the marquee matchup. That being said, there’s no need to limit ourselves to just one game when making NBA betting picks. Inside today’s column is a featured prop prediction for all three games, including one for Memphis Grizzlies center Jonas Valanciunas.

Yesterday’s NBA Player Props Recap

Yesterday’s NBA Player props column was filled to the brim with five different picks for the three-game slate. After an incredible three-week run, we finally hit a bump in the road. Only one of the five NBA betting picks actually came to fruition, as Mikal Bridges never threatened to exceed 13.5 points. Our picks for Kemba Walker, James Harden, LeBron James and Nicolas Batum all went awry. But hey, that’s the nature of sports betting. Some days are good, some not so much. All we can do is keep on grinding and look to get back on track with our Wednesday selections.

Tonight’s Best NBA Player Props, Odds, Picks & Predictions

Danny Green 3.5 Rebounds

Green may have averaged 3.8 rebounds per game on the season, but he has now fallen short of that mark in four of his last five games. Given the fact that tonight’s NBA betting line is just 0.3 boards below his season average, one might say it is a fair prop. What makes this prediction so intriguing is the impressive plus money available on the under. As seen in the image from the Awesemo OddsShopper Tool above, bettors can find odds as high as +126 in the NBA betting market.

Green only had two total rebounds in Philadelphia’s Game 1 win to kick off this series. He certainly doesn’t project to be a key cog on the glass for a 76ers team that includes Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris. Even point guard Ben Simmons is capable of making a massive impact on the boards, evidenced by his 15 rebounds in Game 1. In addition, the Wizards were the sixth-ranked rebounding team in the NBA this season. This simply may not be the series and matchup for Green to have a noteworthy rebounding impact.

Immanuel Quickley Under 8.5 Points

If Game 1 of the Knicks’ first playoff series in eight years was any indication of what to expect going forward, Derrick Rose is the top point guard in New York. He played 38 minutes compared to just 21 for Quickley and a mere eight for Elfrid Payton. Quickley has seen his minutes hover on either side of 20 for the majority of the season. Knowing how Tim Thibodeau coaches, it’s unlikely he will give a young player like Quickley a whole lot of extended run in the postseason. Playing time is a major factor in looking to play Quickley under 8.5 total points among tonight’s NBA betting picks.

Although Quickley did eclipse this threshold with 10 points in Game 1, he had to hit both of his 3-point attempts to do so. Quickley averaged 11.4 points per game during the regular season, but it’s hard to see him carrying the same minutes or workload in the postseason. On top of the rotation situation in New York, the Hawks were quietly a top-12 scoring defense this season, surrendering just 111.3 points per game. Look to fade Quickley tonight.

Jonas Valanciunas Under 16.5 Points

Valanciunas has been a double-double machine all season long. Given the fact that Jaren Jackson Jr. spent much of the regular season on the sidelines, the Grizzlies owe much of their success to Valanciunas. He was at it again in Game 1 of this series against the Jazz, putting up 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. However, that point total is notably under Wednesday’s NBA betting line of 16.5. There’s good reason to believe Valanciunas will once again fall shy in tonight’s Game 2.

The Awesemo NBA Betting Player Props Tool is keen on this selection as well, especially considering the even-money odds and greater potential payout. For the season, Valanciunas has averaged 17.1 points per game. Again, the vast majority of Memphis’ games this season were without Jackson in the lineup. After scoring at least 20 points in four consecutive games, Valanciunas has now come up shy of tonight’s NBA player props total in each of the last two. It is hard to get excited about him going over in any game during this series given his matchup. Jazz center Rudy Gobert is a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. Like any other NBA center, Valanciunas will have all he can do to hold his own in the paint. The matchup alone is enough to suggest playing under 16.5 points, a line that nearly matches his season scoring average.
