This is by far the best spot of the entire season to date. The Twins are very, very good against left-handed pitching and they face a very bad left-handed pitcher tonight in Marco Gonzales. Gonzales brings to the table the worst stats imaginable in every category for a starting pitcher: Average exit velocity given up at 91.3 mph, hard-hit rate of 48.1%, .xSLG of 632 and only 20% strikeouts. Also, the Twins’ three best hitters — Josh Donaldson, Miguel Sano, Nelson Cruz — all have platoon advantages and should absolutely mash in this spot. Bet the Twins whatever way seems best, and they will all be +EV bets tonight.
Lance Lynn Over 7.5 Strikeouts vs. Rays: +115 (BetMGM)
Targeting the Rays with strikeouts is something to take advantage of this season. While they are quite good at hitting home runs and walking, they also strike out quite a bit as a team at 27.1%. This Moneyball approach is the reason Lynn is in a great spot to strike out many a Ray tonight. Lynn’s stats are very impressive; striking out almost 30% of batters and only walking 6%, he is also only giving up .257 xwOBA and xSLG of .339. These stats should let him go deep in tonight’s game to accumulate those strikeouts.
Nelson Cruz to Hit Home Run: +200 (BetMGM)
Targeting Gonzales in every way possible is the strategy of the day, and that means recommending a home run prop today — these are going to be few and far between in these write-ups. Cruz is having another great year, with 17.1% barrels and xSLG of .555. He is a decent bet to hit a home run in this spot against Gonzales, who is allowing 15.7% barrels and an .xSLG of .632.
