Bet Blue Jays-Indians Over 9 Runs (-115): Expert MLB Betting Picks, Odds & Predictions | Thursday, Aug. 5

Thursday’s MLB schedule has a nice mix of games during the day and under the lights. In this article I will evaluate three free expert MLB picks, using Awesemo’s MLB betting guide.

Expert MLB Betting Picks, Predictions & Vegas Odds

Colorado Rockies vs. Chicago Cubs Moneyline (+147, William Hill)

Awesemo’s betting model loves the expected return on investment today for the underdog Cubs on the road. A pair of right-handers get the ball for their respective teams in the rubber match of this series, and it is not great for either team. Both Jake Arrieta and Antonio Senzatela have been rocked this season.

This game will  come down to the bats and bullpens, where the Cubs have the advantage. Chicago’s bullpen has the eighth-best ERA (3.98) in baseball, while Colorado is way down the list at 5.18, which is the third-worst number in MLB. The Cubs’ offensive numbers will look skewed with Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and Javier Baez all getting traded at the deadline. Regardless, this is a new bunch looking to make a name for itself, and sometimes that can be the most dangerous team to deal with.

Cleveland Indians at Toronto Blue Jays Over 9 Runs (-115, BetMGM)

Bettors get a great deal on BetMGM for this Indians – Blue Jays matchup. According to the Awesemo betting model, this game has an expected total of 9.8, the highest outside of the Coors Field game. It helps to get the nine-run total because other sites like DraftKings, PointsBet and William Hill all have the total listed at 9.5.

The key to this matchup will the Toronto’s offense against Cleveland right-hander Triston McKenzie. In his last two road starts, he has allowed a total of 12 hits and 11 runs (five home runs) over eight innings of work. Blue Jays right-hander Ross Stripling has pitched better of late, but it could be the bullpen spoiling things late. Over the last 14 days, Toronto’s bullpen owns the fifth-worst ERA (4.80) in MLB.

Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals Moneyline (+175, William Hill)

The Awesemo betting model loves the Royals one more time against the White Sox. The model sees something here, as Dallas Keuchel is still allowing high contact rates. That is not a recipe for success against the Royals, who just rocked Keuchel for three home runs in their last meeting 10 days ago.

After a rough start to his MLB career, Royals left-hander Daniel Lynch had back-to-back quality starts. He has allowed only three runs in his last 14 innings. Lynch will look to mirror his July 25 start against the Tigers where he had 15 ground-ball outs in eight innings. That will certainly come in handy against this power-hitting White Sox team.
